Once again, I'm asking how you assume that he enjoys this. A mere smile does not prove his enjoyment, as we can all understand that how one acts is not always how one is feeling. You have to be bleeding or injured to be physically harmed? Yes, I get that he's trying to get a reaction, but do you think his goal was to have his ass stomped? I just don't understand how some people's minds work..

Also, Johnson won the fight, and the respect of millions who recognize an annoying ******* when they see one.

And he got himself ejected and possibly suspended. The Texans aren't the only ones the Titans are looking up at in the standings.

You're probably right given Finnegan's history. I look at this situation sort of like what happened to Zidane in the 2006 World Cup. Matterazi was deliberately baiting Zidane, allegedly making comments about his mother and his Muslim heritage, until he got under Zidane's skin resulting in the red card. Matterazi and the Italian team had that reputation for pulling stuff like that and while that strategy is asshatery it is a strategy that often works.

Consider the 1986 WC Finals when the Lakers sent goons like Mitch Kupchak and Kurt Rambis at Olajuwon and Sampson with the intention of getting them to lose their cool and get tossed out. Dream obliged in the WC final game 5 which almost cost the Rox that game. Sampson later obliged against the Celtics when Sichting kept on kneeing him. Unfortunately that is part of the game, almost any game, and it sucks that Johnson got caught up in it this time.

Thats the problem. I think you have a difficult time understanding how the mind of someone else can work. To Finnegan there was no fight. Finnegan knows Andre could kick his ass if there was a real fight, but he knows a real one isn't likely to go down. I can't know for sure that he feels this way, because I don't know him personally, but he seems to have that type of personality. I've known people who act and think that way. You really just have to ignore them, which is a lot harder to do when you are lined up across from them for 50-60 plays.

Everyone hated Finnegan before. He didn't seem to bothered before. Being made fun of probably does make him unhappy, but this won't be a national story after this week.

Yeah. That little b*stard was deliberately trying to get AJ tossed. That's why he was smiling afterward. Of course, he stopped grinning when it was announced that he was also getting the heave-ho. It's an old pro trick and AJ fell for it big time. I remember talking to a former black pro player who played in the 50s and he told about some of the racial insults white players would use to get the black players so mad, they'd lose their cool and get themselves tossed. This was on the officials who should have stepped in much earlier and issued a cease and desist order to both Finnegan and AJ to stop all of the BS. If he does get suspended it will be the punches that do him in and not the ripping off of Finnegan's helmet.

Just to follow up on my previous post I am guessing after Finnegan comes back from his suspension he will continue doing stuff like this especially to Andre Johnson. I mean if the trade off is getting their best player ejected at the cost of a so-so CB why not. I don't like to suggest this but it seems like the best way to deal with that is to have a designated goon on your team like they do in hockey. Once a guy like Finnegan starts with his antics instead of Andre Johnson delivering the beat down it is a thug of your own, perhaps a back up tight end or the wedge breaker on kick off coverage. Finnegan and the other guy get sent to the penalty box (ejected) while Johnson stays in the game.

I doubt the NFL though will allow things to go in that direction but as long as guys like Finnegan play that way I'm not sure what else as a team you can do.

Nothing other than perhaps the satisfaction of knowing just how much he pisses Andre Johnson off. Like I said before, I think he loves that.

I didn't say anything about "cheapshotting" or "uncalled for". It warrants a suspension, but I quite enjoyed it. And yes, he most certainly *could* have stopped after throwing Finnegan down. There are ways to defend with honor beyond jumping on top and throwing haymakers. I didn't mind the haymakers; however--just know that you're going to get the suspension you've got coming to you when you give that little brat what she deserves.

Dude "turtled" once AJ threw him down. He turtled, because he got what he wanted: AJ worked up into a frenzy and getting himself ejected.

It appears to me that you believe Finnegan's goal was to get into AJ and cause injury, or at least get the best of him in a fight. I disagree. I think Finnegan's goal was to get into AJ's head and get him throwing punches and ejected. That's why Finnegirl was clapping. She got what she wanted.

You have to be smarter than that.

some of you seem to be working under the premise that Finnegan got something out of this ordeal. I just don't see it. He did it far too late in the game to affect the outcome in any way. If Andre is suspended, how does it affect Finnegan? Both players are on average teams with zero chance of making the playoffs. Looks like he got his ass beat for no reason and Andre won in every aspect of what transpired

HOUSTON - FOX 26 Sports has learned Houston Texans receiver Andre Johnson will be fined for his actions Sunday involving Tennessee Titans cornerback Cortland Finnegan, but Johnson will not be suspended.

It is not known what further punishment will be handed down to Finnegan.

Huge news for the Texans because that means their All-Pro receiver will be able to play when Houston takes on the Eagles Thursday night in Philadelphia.

Any further disciplinary action for Johnson and Finnegan will stem from their altercation in the fourth quarter of the Texans 20-0 victory at Reliant Stadium.

Both players were ejected from the game.

Finnegan initiated the fight when he hit Johnson in the facemask seconds after the ball was snapped. Johnson retaliated and both players ripped each other's helmets off.

Johnson would land several punches before the referees intervened.

Multiple sources told FOX 26 Sports prior to the fight Finnegan looked at the Texans sidelines and said, "watch this."

    NICE!

Thinking about it now, I can't believe I thought he would get suspended... Houston's most recognizable football player, getting suspended by the NFL, 3 days before he plays a football game to be telivised on the NFL's network?

That was never going to happen.

In light of this, Finnegan absolutely lost the skirmish, the battle, and the war.

In what other league can you land two punches and not get suspended? Awesome.

uh... yes? did you just ask that if you have a particular goal in mind, act in way to achieve that goal, then get the desired result that somehow you did not "win"?

me thinks you don't understand the intricacies of attaining goals.
