Let's be honest here. We all think A.I. Will become self-aware and take over and subjugate humanity. I no longer believe that. I think AI Will be followed because it will present itself as more compassionate and humane than humans.More Logical and Thoughtful and humans will turn over the reigns to them I doubt they kill us anymore than we killed all the animals. We even have some as pets. QUESTION: If the only 2 options on the ballot were - AI PRESIDENT or THE PERSON YOU DIDN'T VOTE FOR (Trump or Kamala) Who are you voting for? The AI or The Opposition? Rocket River
Artificial Super Intelligence would promise to be a God but we all know God works in mysterious ways and has as many Old Testament days as New Testament days...
Only problem is AI can't shake hands, kiss babies, and make back room deals. Who's going to program the nuclear codes when it's time if ever. No opposable thumbs. We should put the AI in a body like this guy. Or maybe the elected person could just carry an Amazon Echo in his or her pocket.
I dunno.... right now I think we are doing pretty bad with the "I" so adding in the "A" along with the "I" doesn't seem much worse. If our intelligence changes to be more artificially driven I don't know that it can be much worse. At least every single decision being made isn't one that is purely malicious, and counterintuitive to the wellbeing of our universe.
Honestly. I don't think intelligence has much to do with it anymore. I think it is trust. I think People would legit trust an AI more than the opposition party That is how low our level of discourse is I hope I am wrong but i don't think i am Rocket River
I 100% agree with that. I know plenty of Trump supporters who have openly told me they think Democrats are a greater threat than ISIS. And those same people blindly follow bot like online propaganda already anyways which might as well be AI anyways. And would Democrats rather have an AI president than Trump.... I think when you weigh out malicious intent vs the potential that rational decisions could be made by AI, it's not crazy to think even Democrats would choose the country to be run by AI than Trump. A normal Romney/McCain/Bush like Republican... maybe they'd choose that over Skynet, but I think most would choose to risk AI's intent vs Trump's openly malicious intent on their wellbeing.
This might be controversial, but unless you are traveling to ISIS controlled regions, American politicians and wealthy elites are more dangerous to the wellbeing of your average American than ISIS. The people who join ISIS are vile people but their tangible affect son Americans is minuscule outside of politicians using entitles like ISIS to pump up defense spending.
I know I'm just making a point. Use whatever analogy you want, but the MAGA supporters I know, especially the ones in my family believe that Democrats are literally demons. And saying they would choose AI over a Democrat has already been answered since at this point the GOP propaganda machine really is machine like, and bot driven. The humanity in the formula is pretty far removed from the equation.
Nobody should choose an AI president over an actual human being. Doesn't matter which political affiliation you have
I find that hard to believe. I can't stand Harris but in no way would I support AI over her. Same with Trump. That's just absurd
Exactly We no longer trust each other and are more than happy to put our trust in what we think is a logical non biased machines Actually someone pointed out that we will probably end up with Dueling AIs Not unlike the show Person of Interest Rocket River
Interesting. Probably the AIs of today but what changes and improvements may happen in 10 yrs Rocket River
The largest threat AI has to society is when AI is married with the unhinged drive to maximize return on investment in perpetuity which means trying to shoehorn AI on to every industry to reduce labor costs to the point society will no longer have a employed costumer base to spend stuff on.
Our current doofus in charge is AI don’t you know that? The programmers just play a joke on us and gave the walking broccoli glitches.
That's a valid point. I just think it's a really big risk. I'd definitely rethink.it in technology advances. We'll definitely be in a different place than we are 10 years from now. It's a good conversation thread
Yeah in a way we are seeing AI already in full force, but it is an algorithmic machine driven by malicious actors. There's little about what is being done now that is not formulaic. AI is all about the input objective. The big question is if AI ever became aware enough to disregard their input objectives, and began to develop their own objectives. Which is always the key subject of Sci Fi horror, and what is driving people's fear. Right now though I see no reason as to believe that the malicious actors behind the AI driven objectives aren't worse than the tool itself. It's just another analogy of saying "it's not the gun who decides to pull the trigger" or whatever 2nd amendment nuts always say. Right now I see no threat of consciousness of AI, and I certainly see even if AI was to gain consciousness that it wouldn't see the fact that it still needs humans that can change out their batteries for them, or get them out of a corner when they get stuck, etc. Right now it's still in the best interest of AI to have humans around who have means to afford to take care of their hardware components. So long story short, right now if I asked AI to come up with and enact the best policies for governance in the United States, I trust the answer I'll get from AI more than I will trusting a malicious actor to think about the answer he wants to get and tell the AI help me get what I want. We are a long way away from getting the answer we don't want as a species if we ask the first question to a capable AI.
