I think you're reading too much into it. UT is really the Aggies only rival, thus, most Aggies are happy to see them lose just like most Rockets fans are happy to see the Jazz lose, most Cowboys fans are happy to see the Redskins lose, most Florida State fans are happy to see Florida lose, etc... So I don't understand why this is any different than those rivalires? The notion that since they're in the same state every Texan should root for them is proposterous, and until now, I never even knew people thought that way. And yes, I agree that Aggies make too big of a deal about the rivalry.
ok...i was wrong with one of my facts... i admit it.. yale has more championships than notre dame.... but notre dame has more championships than anyone else... including miami... notre dame is undefeated, texas is not..... thus, i refered you to the "scoreboard" notre dame will go undefeated this year, and have a higher ranking than OU and texas by the end of the season.. ill bet anyone 20 bucks college football really doesnt interest me overall though and i stand by my wnba analogy...asinine or not... Clue is a pretty fun boardgame. i usually use Mrs. White, even though from where she starts it takes a couple rolls of the dice to actually get into a room
well, since ND only has a defense, much like OU.....OU held a decent Texas offense to what, 200 yards? Has ND faced anyone as good as Texas? I don't think so. Don't say ND is better than UT and OU if you have NOTHING to back this up
ND undefeated??? Well they'll probably be in the BCS with that cushy deal they have. Plus when you include the Notre Dame bias of the media, I can see them being ranked pretty damn high. But undefeated? I've seen several ND games on TV this year and that offense just doesn't impress me at all. They rely on too much trickery to be a sound offensive unit, in my opinion.
Once again, you admitted that you started rooting for Notre Dame in 1990. So, why in hell do you care about any of their past accomplishments which includes all oftheir national championships. That would be like someone becoming a Boston Celtics fan 5 years ago, and telling people that the Celtics are better than the Lakers, Bulls, Rockets, or any other team that has won a NBA title simply because they have more championships. That is really a compelling argument. The bottom line is that Notre Dame will not go undefeated this season and they will be lucky to stay within 14 points against FSU. You wanna bet on that?? You definitely have it with me. Time for you to grow a nutsack and put it on the line. $20??? Hell, make it $50 on who wins that game...FSU or Notre Dame - just whoever wins or loses, none of this point garbage. Aren't you sure that your elephant doesn't need you now?
michigan is as good as texas. texas, in my opinion, is THAT overrated. thats my back up baby how bout this, if notre dame doesnt go undefeated. we can all go to a bar and ill buy everyone drinks until we all get hammered, forget our troubles, and talk about hakeem olajuwon and the good ole days.
even though I'm a Texas alum, I sorta agree with that. I've seen plenty of Michigan football on tv this weekend, and sadly I think both programs are relying on past reputations and stud talent for their rankings, rather than on-the-field performance. As for the bar, you're on. Now if I could just find my old Olajuwon red and gold jersey.
all of ND's titles were not the reason i became a fan. but when arguing that the program is head and shoulders above all others. that IS a very compelling argument. that isnt the reason i started rooting for them, or root for them now... all it does is prove my point... (i got drunk last night, and "impulse bought" the rockets home white basketball shorts for 60 bucks. i dont really know if ill regret that or not....) ... but ill wear my eddie johnson jersey... to the bar. (not that ill be going because ND will be undefeated, but...i mean you know, anything can happen)
I know people now a days that would say Tx Tech is a bigger rival. I don't know/care. I agree with everything else you said.
