I would think that Gortat would be a bigger target than Lowry just because he would start at Center and move Bosh back to his more natural position of Power Forward. Gortat, Bosh and James can match up against any front court in the NBA and is very likely the best front court in the NBA.

In the past they have had problems matching up with big front courts like SA, Houston and Indy because there was no one on the Heat to defend guys like Duncan, Dwight and Hibbert. Gortat would take that role allowing Bosh to provide weak side help.

Offensively speaking, Gortat is not a liability either. Plus he helps the Heat with rebounding which they were pathetic at last season.

The harden trade really surprised and amazed me.

The Dwight thing did not surprise me. It seemed like he wanted out of LA after his first week there, and our players were *really* really into getting him.

I don't think that many people in the business think Lebron is going anywhere but Miami.

I'm still shocked that Wade opted out though. It's just pretty rare that someone says "yeah, I'm overpaid. let's rip up my contract and give me less money."

If Wade hadn't opted out, I wouldn't be making fun of people thinking the Rockets had a chance at one of the big three.

I'm always happy to be wrong though!

Keep their roster mainly intact and add two max free agents!?

    Unlikely but scary thought.

I figured Lebron wouldn't personally be taking meetings.

    Wow!

How serious is Lebron about leaving if he isn't even in the room when the teams are pitching?

That's power. It's so insulting, but every team would happily debase themselves to have James on their team. Wow.

Pay attention to which rookies picked in the top 5 aren't officially signed in the next couple weeks.

Lebron wants to come to Houston but he has to appear he still wants to remain with the heat.

But when it comes down to he'll say it just didn't work out and he had to take his talents to space city. It was what was best for him all things considered. That way people will think he tried but just couldn't make it work. Tried to remain loyal. That way he looks as good as he can on his way out.

Why don't they play basket ball for free? In this way, the Heat could sign anther 3 super stars. Six SUPER STARS would definitely help the Heat win the NBA championship very year.

Why would they be debasing themselves by kissing up to LeBron? Companies roll out the red carpet for top talents in their fields all the time. LeBron absolutely deserves to be treated like this, because the NBA centers their entire marketing around star players and they make the NBA go.

As much as it annoys me to be a fan of a *team* to say this, but LeBron deserves all the ass kissing he gets.

    Brian Windhorst:

    LeBron taking any trips?

Word is LeBron is not confirming anything. Teams interested in LeBron couldn't get a call back.

The feeling this is a done deal but something in my head says I don't know. What they're going to do doesn't address their roster concerns. What they're re-signing for is basically taking all their salary cap space except their exceptions. Carmelo? Forget about it. Lowry, probably off the table. Gasol? Marvin Williams? Not even sure they can get Trevor Ariza.

Trevor Ariza is a great fit. Wizards, Lakers, there will be competition for him. That's why I'm not saying this is done. LeBron should look at other options.

    Time table for this?

I would assume, if he's staying he wants to send that message loud and clear. By the end of this week, you'll have a good idea of what he's doing. These guys want to go on vacation. LeBron is going to China on the 20th.

    What is waiting for?

LeBron opted out Tuesday. The league is taking a wait and see approach.

My feel is the Heat will be given instructions from LeBron, if not already. The guys hashed the money out. Bosh left for vacation. He's gone. He's a free agent on vacation. I think the deal is set up. And league execs are howling about salary cap circumvention. My feeling is these guys hashed this out and will be done quickly.

    Carmelo?

Greatest option is Chicago. I think that's his place. This whole process though, I think he has looked for reasons to stay in NY.

Tom Penn, admittedly guessing, on how it might look:

    LeBron $22.2 million
    Bosh $15 million
    Wade $12 million
    Haslem $3.5 million
    Cole $2 million
    Napier $1 million
    $3 million in roster charges

    $4.4 million in cap room
