You know what's funny about this? Looking back, it really wasn't true. All the players they signed because "Miami is a destination city with the big 3" were guys in the twilight of their careers (Allen, Battier, Lewis) or had character problems (Anderson and Beasly)....ie guys that any team could have had (minus Allen). No one, other than perhaps Allen, came to Miami at a significant discount to their real worth. Even Mike Miller, a 3 point specialist in the same vein as Korver, signed for the full MLE (which was about his value). This turned out to be a myth.
Exactly! And if you listen to Windhorst, he says whatever decision LeBron comes up with, it will be strictly business and "emotion" will be left at the door. In other words (my opinion in regards to Windhorst's above claim) that Lebron won't worry about the media dubbing him a "mercenary" for going to Houston for chase more rings.
I've said this before but people don't listen to me. Players do not give up significant earnings in their peak earning years to play for a winner. I might they might give up small amounts sure, but this idea that if you just get Lebron you can get quality players to sign for peanuts just to win is ridiculous.
Morey and Les will literally change the locks on McHale overnight if that's what it takes to get LBJ.
Not to mention Mark Cuban's mouthpiece when he needs a favor. Surprised Stein hasn't come out and said Lebron will "consider" Dallas. Stein is pretty legit...except when he is being fed stuff by Cuban. Any report on Dallas should be taken with a grain of salt when Stein is involved. Also, it is laughable how Screamin A Smith can create rumors out of nowhere this morning on Mike and Mike and then it gets debated even though it is never going to happen. It is just what they want to happen. To think Lebron or even Melo want to get Kobe more rings? Just use some logic as a fan of the NBA and not as a media personality. It is very transparent considering all of the overlooking of Houston last year and yet it is happening again.
Then he probably won't remain as coach. The thing with Houston, with Harden and Parsons, each of those guys can cover for Lebron when he is resting. Perfect situation to extend his career. Not to mention if Lebron comes to Houston, Ray Allen is willing to join him. Probably could get Allen for 2 years getting some swingman minutes.
After Dwight said he would sign with us, Multiple Sources came out with a report that Dwight was still 50/50 on Houston and considering LA.
I believe whoever says that Houston has a chance, lol I admit to being irrational when it comes to Lebron.
Lol, he already has said Dallas is in consideration earlier this week. It made no sense to me. Haven't seen Dallas mentioned anywhere else since.

Despite not having the requisite cap space to sign Lebron nor any way to realistically get it. ESPN's sterling reporting.
