others member expectation not mine , I did't claim they will resist with arms .i was the one who dismissed civil war false flag

I am aware the BBC Among many are disappointed with outcomes from this coup and this is just an aftermath declamation, but to get a less biased opinion check out this article dated back to Jan21,2016

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2016/jan/21/abraham-wagner-gulen-movement-a-threat-to-us-turke/

If a very mysterious guy built a network of 128+ private school in the US within a couple of years ,forced the FBI to probe his business on multiple alleged offences , then imagine how his network is infiltrated to be in Turkey

With all the Hillary for Prison talk. This sounds like a preview of what happens if the Republican base take the White House. Let's just jail opponents for being disloyal.

yea that's why they want Hillary in jail. disloyalty.... lolz

It's not Republicans who abuse power (though Trump would). Its Hillary who has been doing it for decades.

Turkey deserve what ever it gets, good or bad for electing Erdogan, just like the US will deserve what ever it get if Trump is elected this fall.

Authoritarians usually invent charges of corruption and abuse and criminality against opponents to jail them. I think Erdogen is calling Gulen a terrorist.

You don't get that he's speaking of authoritarians in general? Flinging a corruption charge at an opponent is one of the tried and true methods of getting rid of the opposition. Look at what Xi has been doing in China, for example.

Unreal, dumbing down a population so they will accept a theocracy. Sick over there.

Wrong wrong wrong wrong. Democracy is already over in Turkey. Erdogan is now a full on dictator and will never release power willingly. He has won. Turkey is a loser, as is Europe. Dictatorships are not good for capitalism and economics local or global.

I make it a point not to engage you but this is wrong and needs correcting. Every single authoritarian takeover in world history from Vietnam to Latin America to China to Europe - always targets the intellectuals. It's Authoritarian takeover 101 to attack those who have the ability to seed discontent. He is not doing this because he is an Islamist and is anti-education. he's doing this because of control.

I am not surprised you are trying to use that to feed your blame everything on Islam narrative.

You are flush with the optimism of perceived victory. But frankly there are too many forces outside the control of Erdogan to think the future will be peaceful. I don't even know much about the politics of Turkey and I can probably name 10 groups that will be planning to support at least a covert civil war in Turkey.

The disgruntled Ataturk's still in military who's closest ties are to the US DOD
Russians, the traditional natural enemy
Assad/ Alawites
PKK
Free Kurds
Greeks
Armenians
Wahhabist (since Erdogan is not a fundamentalist)
ISIS
Gulen-ist

I think you are correct but that doesn't make ATW's statement incorrect. You could both easily be right here, you know.

I agree to some extents

I think both American & Russian have one stand against Erdogan to leave Syrian regime alone

Assad/ Alawites = real immediate risk
PKK/Free Kurds= they seen worst days from Turkish army, Iranian,Iraqis green zone , so Erdogan is the least of their troubles
Greeks: not sure anyone think of them as an enemy anymore .
Armenians: same as above ,political meltdown locally preoccupied their priorities

Wahhabist (since Erdogan is not a fundamentalist)= a misconception , they like how he modernized Turky ,the most reliable allies to Erdogan

ISIS= not sure they think of anyone as Freind ,they will strike any reachable targets

Gulen-: if the US handed him over to Turkey it will be a bigger problem like in case of AbdulahOjalan, best situation he stays in where he is now.

Egyptian Generals : hate him, Iranian Mullas : can't stand him, Israeli: wish he is gone.

To make and NBA context that shows you what kind of people support Erdogan...

Since speaking out about the failed military coup in Turkey, Enes Kanter has been regularly receiving death threats.https://t.co/VtGCmbtJYy
— NBA on ESPN (@ESPNNBA) 20. Yes, I was actually going to say that.

Sweet Lou is correct that this is typical for authoritarian regimes, but he is incorrect when he says that Islam is not anti-education.

In this case, it is both.

In Pakistan, Malala Yousafzai got shot because she advocated for girls to go to school.

Quite clearly, Islam is anti-science, and anti-education, relatively speaking, especially in certain countries.

Unfortunately, the EU, the US, the Middle East, and the world generally will be impacted by the choices Turkey is making right now. I'm not inclined to be flip and write it off as just desserts.

Doubly so for the choices the US will make in November.

I'd feel that way but honestly there't not a good choice for the US to make in November. It's bad choice A vs bad choice B.

No wonder the coup failed. They don't have any rim protection.
