here's a question, if you are already there to make arrests, why wouldn't you show up in uniform?

Of course it does, that is why the drug war is such a travesty.

someone comes in your house guns high
I think you do what cops normally do

SHOT 1st and Ask questions later

Cops will shot you . . then worry about if it was a candy bar or a cell phone
When they burst into someone's house .. they want people to do the opposite
of what they do . . . hypocrits

Even without a uniform they are supposed to display their badges.

Doesn't it seem odd that the 92 year old woman had a gun ready to fire? I imagine she was simply sitting or lying around the house when the police broke in. How is it that she was able to get to where her gun was, grab it and fire?

^ Not necessarily. Presuming she lives in a high crime area and is very scared she might keep a loaded gun near her in the house. Wasn't there a case recently of an old lady shooting some robbers? So having quick access to a loaded weapon might not seem that strange.

Of course this case shows a potential downside to having quick access to a loaded gun because if she had taken more time to get the gun then maybe she would've realized they were police and not shot.

Armed Miss America 1944 Stops Intruder

WAYNESBURG, Ky. -- Miss America 1944 has a talent that likely has never appeared on a beauty pageant stage: She fired a handgun to shoot out a vehicle's tires and stop an intruder. Venus Ramey, 82, confronted a man on her farm in south-central Kentucky last week after she saw her dog run into a storage building where thieves had previously made off with old farm equipment.

Ramey said the man told her he would leave. "I said, 'Oh, no you won't,' and I shot their tires so they couldn't leave," Ramey said.

She had to balance on her walker as she pulled out a snub-nosed .38-caliber handgun.

"I didn't even think twice. I just went and did it," she said. "If they'd even dared come close to me, they'd be 6 feet under by now."

Ramey then flagged down a passing motorist, who called 911.

Curtis Parrish of Ohio was charged with misdemeanor trespassing, Deputy Dan Gilliam said. The man's hometown wasn't immediately available. Three other people were questioned but were not arrested.

After winning the pageant with her singing, dancing and comedic talents, Ramey sold war bonds and her picture was adorned on a B-17 that made missions over Germany in World War II, according to the Miss America Web site.

Ramey lived in Cincinnati for several years and was instrumental in helping rejuvenate Over-the-Rhine historic buildings. She returned to Kentucky in 1990 to live on her farm.

"I'm trying to live a quiet, peaceful life and stay out of trouble, and all it is, is one thing after another," she said.

its easier to get weed than ciggs for kids these days. people smoke or they dont...doesnt matter if its legal or not. not saying that legalizing cocaine and other narcotics would be a good thing though

your first paragraph answers the question of why what you are advocating in the 2nd paragraph is a bad idea. if it was real robbers she would not have had time to get her gun. having to lock up your gun in your own house defeats the purpose of even having it. im not saying you need to go commando and have an arsenal laying around, but alot of people i know have something they can get to pretty quick if needed (shotgun behind the door, pistol in drawer, ect).

At the same time though a shoot first check second attitude though can leave to tragic mistakes also which was the point of the second paragraph. If you keep your gun loaded and quick at hand so you can quickly shoot the greater the chances of having an unintentional shooting.
