After trying Five Guys for the first time, I'd rather have a Big Mac

I had a burger from Cliff's last night and I have to say it was actually on par with 5 Guys.

How do they manage to fit all that special sauce? Must've been a soggy one.

I think their mushroom burger is the best one out of the three.

I tried that one, and I was not happy that it was apparently filled with dijon mustard. I didn't see that in the description and if I had, I would not have ordered it. :(

Doesn't Beck Prime make a better expensive burger?

    I've always like Fuddruckers too.

SmashBurger is pretty good. Tried it for the first time last week... definitely better than McDonald's, but obviously more expensive.

    The shakes/malts are excellent.

anyone try the angus burger at mcdonald's?

I really like the $6 burger at Carl's Jr.

    Five Guy's fries are strong.

I was underwhelmed by Five Guys. Thought the burger was kind of gross and the meat not great, just fatty. (Their fries were good though.) My favorite fast food burgers are at Back Yard Burgers and Culver's. Not that this helps anyone in Houston right now.

Only a Clutchfans thread about burgers can be derailed into something else lol. I've been to 5 Guys before...was alright.

    I'll take BBQing anyday though.

if there was a BARF emoticon I'd be using it now.

Carl's Jr. soyburgers are absolutely disgusting. I get a migraine headache every time I ate there in the past. I swore off Carl's Jr. and was forced to break my fast during a field trip, and sure enough I got sick from my meal...

these burger threads are teh most polarizing and the most ridiculous and subjective threads that exist on clutchfans.

the level of snobbery and mockery of opinions is truly laughable. you can only go with what suits your tastes.

In & Out, for me, is still the best fast food chain burger on the market. I grew up on the Big Three (BK, McD, Wendy's) and discovering I&O on the West Coast in my 20's was like discovering an untapped oasis in the middle of the desert.

the differences are beyond obvious. better than McD's, better than Whataburger, better than Carl's Jr. (AKA Hardee's- they are the same burger)

    it's not a geographical thing, it's not a pride thing, it's a taste thing.

    Y'all crazy. FG > I&O

I remember being underwhelmed the first time too, but I think it was just because the hype was so big. It is now my favorite place to get a burger. So many fresh topping choices as opposed to In & Out. Not to mention the fries are better.

Also, in case some people may not have figured it out, a regular/small fry at Five Guys is actually enough for two. The container is smaller, but every 5G I've been to end ups dumping fries on top of everything to fill up the bag. Anyways, it makes a little cheaper if you split the fries with someone, because as has been pointed out it is definitely more expensive than typical fast food.

I was surprised at the prices at 5 Guys. And seeing the pictures online, I thought the burger would be much bigger.

I like Smashburger, but for that pricepoint, I prefer Fuddruckers and Becks Prime.

Hubcap Grill is the king right now.

a burger, smashfries, and a drink will easily be $10-12 altogether depending on what extras you get on the burger.
