Now, I get where you are from.;)

I won't say Yao hasn't play good this series, though. I think he has played good, but not great, that's why we are 1-3, had the opportunite to win the other two.

We do absolutely need Yao to play GREAT to win tonight, and the series.

    Wild guess?;)

Nap! I don't, but what I know is you are not running upon & down the basketball court with another 300lber constantly push & shove & bump you. Am I correct?;)

You got me there. First, you claimed that you are a life-long "Roeckts" fan, then you opposed the negativity surrounding SF. I just thought, thank God, finally a positive post from a long time fan. But what happened then? You just started the most negative claim to another Rockets player. You like Yao or not, he's still a Rockets player, and you call yourself a life-long Rockets fan, which makes me laugh. Even if you had credibility before, you totally lost it here. IMHO, any thread starting with claims like "most","best", or "worst", can be ignored, because you are not able to back up your statement with data, statistics, or facts. To attack a very important piece of this new Rockets playoff team like that, doesn't make you a Rockets fan, only a fan of yourself. Too many of us love to predict that this guy can be this, that player can never be that, like our prediction count. Most of the prediction is any aspects of life are wrong. Why don't you just save the energy, support our team (I mean the team, not a single player, or yourself) instead. Cheers.

    You are correct!

But my best friends dad is about 6'8 and weighs 300 pounds. He doesn't play basketball but he can shoot garbage paper into trashcans from pretty far away...but I don't know if thats related in anyway to what we are talking about here so... ;)

    Almu,

I know where you come from, I completely understand your concern about where Yao will end up be as far as basketball goes. But you take calculated risks with playes in this league, everyone does!

To understand what you get in Yao, you need to go way back to his development since his teenage days in China, see if he has been improve himself over his career.

It took about 4 years for Yao to become THE dominated force in China from a timid rookie, I would think it's reasonable to as least give him that much time here in NBA as well. People often take athletism as aggresiveness, obviously, Yao will never be called "aggresive" that way. But he can be dominating without being very atheletic, as he has showed from time to time.

Just look at how far he has come from the 1st game against the Pacers, you know the guy has improved tremendously. Why shouldn't we believe he won't continue this progress towards the greatness?

    Daoshi,

I do hope he becomes dominant. Hell, nothing like having your player be the most dominant on the court during the playoffs. We had that here for several years with Olajuwon INCLUDING when Jordan was on the floor. Thats how good I want Yao to be.

But, if he does not develop into that type of dominant player, its ok with me also. Because a 7'6" center that weighs 330 pounds and scores 17pts and gets me 11rebs and blocks 3 shots...though not DOMINANT, is AOK with me. As long as the team is built correctly around him. Which is why I want to wait on trading Steve.

then we're in agreement. Because this thread has become a Yao bash somehow, which obviously was not your original intent.:D

BTW, you just opened another can of worms by wanting to keep Steve! I can see DavidS, DaDakota, etc coming.;)

If you go back and look, with the exception of a few, most people aren't bashing Yao. This thread is more of a "bring Yao back to earth" type. He's been hyped for so long as the greatest thing since sliced bread and some people are realizing that he may not live up to those expectations.

I know the original post's intent by Almu, and I agree with most of his take. I jumped in because this thread started to turn into one of those "Yao Bash" threads, and I don't want that to happen.:D

See what I mean? Yao is a good player as of now, but this guy just don't see it.

BTW, I've been one of the more critical voice of Yao on this board, you don't have to "bring Yao back to earth" for me.;)

I'm with Nick and Almu on this one.

Yao just hasn't quite showed me that he's ready to be the MAN on this team that we build around. Sure, maybe we don't get him the ball as much as we should, but when we do get it to him look what he does with it! Brings it down to his waist and a 2nd defender slaps it away, Yao is almost guaranteed 1 to 2 of those TO's a game. (Please don't think I'm hatin' on Yao; I freakin' love him, I model my play after him, he's a badass, just not quite a team leading player.)
Stevie is the Man. He has the HEART that a team needs (now if we can just find a donor brain :D ). HE is a Franchise player and it really worries me to think about what this team is left with if we trade him away.

Honestly my biggest complaint is what in the WORLD happened to the league leading defense we used to tote? I admittedly haven't checked out the actually stats lately, but it just doesn't seem like we're holding teams back like we used to me. No one's been talking about us setting defensive records anymore this season.

I like this team, aside from the addition of a True Hardcore PF. (Quick someone get some scientists to work on creating a clone possessing MoTay's Offense with Cato's Defense). I would be estatic to see SF3, Yao, Cat, Jimmy Jax all back next season.

....Oh, and Boki better be there too. ;)
(He's gonna drop some huge Clutch Play-Off Winning 3's next year, in the tradition of past Rocket greats, I can feeeeeeel it!

Trade Yao's *** asap. The guy has no clue how to be dominate in the paint. And don't try to sell me on this second year **** because I'm not buying into that. The young man has way too much talent to be pissing it all away on my Houston Rockets. As far as I can see Yao Ming's ceilling is only 7'4", and that's just not going to cut it with me.

Where is my Roc in the Paint?

Ewing for M. Malone sounds better.

That will work too I guess. Although I would really like to see Yao has that sky hook going.

Yeah, I heard in Yao's rookie season, M. Malone was looking to teach Yao a few things.. What was the reason we didn't sign him on to coach Yao again?

I see your point about his offensive ability he might learn from Jabar, but I would rather see him learn how to bang.
