After 35 years of being a fan , first game in person!!!!

True story: I've always been a HUGE rockets fan and used to listen to home games on AM radio since we never had cable TV ... so in 1999 my friend asked me if I wanted to watch the game and I thought we were going to his place to watch on TV, until we started driving to the Summit ... I don't think I sat down the entire game ... Barkley had 24 rebounds and I remember Stevie putting up a couple of 3s once the game was academic just to get up to 18 points for the day lol

Awesome experience, my one and only time attending a Rockets game

 

Every time I go to a game I can't get over how big and fast the players really are. Have fun

I lived in Midwest City for 2 years while stationed at Tinker. I assume the landscape is still painted red.

It's really funny -- I saw this thread title -- it could've been MY thread, cuz my wife is taking me to the Rox-Celts game on the 2nd! Only I've been a fan for roughly 40 years. Grew up in Houston, moved to Arkansas when I was 10, then St. Louis when I was 18, then Vermont when I was 28. I'm on the interwebs every day reading up on the Rox, so she KNEW what to get me for my birthday!

Did get to see Phi Slamma Jamma play live in St. Louis in the 1982 Midwest Regional semifinals, against Boston College and Michael Adams. Everyone in St. Louis thought it was going to be Kansas and Missouri, so it was sold out, but then UH and BC won -- my friend and I thought "what the hell, maybe we can get a ticket" -- we went down, and people were outside selling tickets in droves -- we got ours for $5 each! Sat right behind the UH bench, watched Reid Gettys go 10 for 10 at the FT line at the end of the game to seal it... awesomeness.

Only other times -- my brother took me when I was really little to a Coogs game in Houston -- I remember a lot of swearing and not being able to see cuz everyone stood up the whole time. Also saw the Celts and Knicks in MSG in the 80s -- triple overtime game -- Bernard King went for 35.

Can't wait to see the Rox get a little payback on the Celts -- gonna scream my head off.

$5 tickets to see UH v BC? that's madness! '82 was a crazy year with all those HOFers... Houston had Clyde and Olajuwon. UNC had Jordan and Worthy. Georgetown had Ewing. IMO Houston could have beaten anyone but North Carolina that year
