Knwleg, you're no Fraud. We on this board KNOW Fraud.:D

Seriously, your post was a good read, but the "hooter" typo was better than any Freudian slip.

I agree, but Yao is also very turnover-prone. He clearly has trouble with the double teams from the opposition. But, I think it'll improve.

The Rox main problem definitely is turn-overs. If they can improve those then they could reach the 4th seed if they were lucky but more likely the 5th seed. If they can't improve the TOs I think we are looking at more of a 7th or 8th seed.

The keys to improve the TOs...

    1) SF and Cat to dribble less and relax a little bit avoiding dumb TOs

    2) Yao to have "tougher" hands and keep the ball up high .. He seems to get it stripped away every time he brings the ball down to his waste.

    3) Most important keep Moochie away from the ball at all times possible. I like the guy, but he's just had too many problems this year.

Don't be so sure. Defense is what wins in the playoffs, and if there's one thing we excel at (and will only get better at, too), it's defense.

    DOn't forget the EWING THEORY.

The Rockets get the eight playoff seed. They play the Lakers. The Rockets lose the first three games. Before the fourth game, Ewing goes to the snack stand to buy a donut and slips and breaks his leg. The Rockets are suddenly inspired and win the next four games to go onto the second round. They go onto the WEstern Conference Finals. They go to game seven of the NBA finals. Steve Francis and/or Cat shoot and miss a million three pointers. Yao does a finger roll at the last second and it misses and New Jersey wins the NBA title. Yao gets traded to Seattle, then Orlando, then retires, and becomes an assistant coach under Patrick Ewing, who has, by then, decided to walk around in a protective bubble. Steve Francis gets a head coaching job in the WNBA. John Amaechi moves to Tibet to play for a CBA team and is never heard from again. Cat marries J-Lo and has seven kids that strangely all look like Ben Affleck. Moochie joins the staff of the Best Damn Sports Show, but the ratings drop as soon as he signs a long, expensive contract, so ESPN trades Moochie for Charles Barkley from TNT. It's a strange, sad world.

Our offenses will improve just with the fact that the players will become more familiar with it as the season progresses.

We still need help at the PF spot. This will become evident in the playoffs (we should make it given our level of D).

We still do not have the inside presence for a championship team. We just don't. We're missing a few more pieces.

P.S. I LOVE our small-foward roster: JJ, Boki, Pike(SG/SF), AGriff. We are strong there!

You are obviously talking about Amaechi; I don't think he should shoot at all. You know, the jiggling and all!

(I'm sorry, I just couldn't resist; your other comments were great);)

In my Crystal Ball, I see the Rox... becoming World Champions??!!!!

The possibilities are LIMITLESS... b/c we have hard work, talent AND unselfishness. What's this? Oh, wait, more predictions from the Crystal Ball!

    1. Basketball arenas all across the world will duplicate the Toyota Center b/c it's cheap, affordable, and a good value.
    2. Yao Ming will grow another 30 inches and incur a scar on his "other eyebrow" when he accidently hits his head on the rim.
    3. The Rockets' franchise will become the most popular global franchise next to Coca-Cola. In response, Coca-Cola buys the Rockets and replaces all personnel with aluminum cans.
    4. JVG will become the official spokesperson for Diet Coke.
    5. Kelvin Cato has a newborn son named "Celsius."
    6. MacBeth will take a new job with "The Touring Shakespeareans" only to get bored and return to the BBS.
    7. Moochie discovers two new fros beneath his armpits as retires from basketball as the "hairest man alive."
    8. Clutch the Bear becomes the #1 selling holiday accessory at Victoria's Secret.
    9. Unhappy with his situation with Coca-Cola, Yao decides to pack his bags and head west to Seattle where the Sonics offer him a lifetime supply of Starbucks frappucinos.
    10. Relishing his newfound popularity with the women, Colin Pine leaves the Rox and pursues a movie career in Hollywood.

The Crystal Ball does Not Lie, Folks.

    :p

    man, that's hilarious! :D

the rockets' TO problem reminds me of the spurs, who also are TO-prone. TD is great but used to have butterfingers just like yao. parker, a 2nd tier guard, is not playing at the level of SF3 but sometimes really makes Pop mad by his boneheaded mistakes--but they are more easily forgiven as the guy is sooo young. now that SF3 is more comfortable with the idea of passing instead of dribbling, hopefully he can cut down his TOs significantly. otherwise JVG won't have much hair left to pull. poor guy. :D

but on paper this team really has the talent to make some serious noise; they just need to play a bit more unselfishly: the Kings' blueprint to success. winning 50 games and going to the playoffs are easier than becoming a consistent, competitive, and respectable team--that's the hallmarks of the elite teams. this year they are definitely not there yet. they'll be there when SF3 can do 20-5R-7A-2.5TO.

on the other hand, if SF3 does average 3+ TO/game, i hope they are of the JKidd-type. meaning: not 'cuz of too much dribbling but from passes that are too good/quick/hard etc. :D

i feel that they'll be at best the 5th seed and lose in the first round to the Spurs after a good fight--what the Suns did to the Spurs last year. Both teams have tons of TOs and the game becomes too ugly to watch. Both teams are so stingy on defense that they'll average 75 pt/game. however SF3 will hit a game winning 3-pointer coming off a pick from yao with 5 sec left. but the defending champs will regroup and eventually send the rockets home. however they'll become a hot pick coming next season, and Marc Stein will rank them #5 in his preseason ESPN Power Ranks! :D

ok got to go now and happy Thanksgiving to everyone. :D
