Are you sure that is correct and its not conference record? Edit: yeah, look at this. http://www.nfl.com/standings/tiebreakingprocedures Titans are currently 3-7 in conference and Texans are 4-6.
If there are multiple ties, I think the Texans get it, by virtue of a better conference record. Both teams survived today, and that is all you can do in the NFL....it is good enough. DD
Nope - ties are broken within each division first, which the Titans would win due to division record.
That is assuming there is not a 3 way tie where divisional records are tossed out......which was what I was trying to say. DD
These last Two Games are NO PUNK. Miami made a furious come back on the Titans and came up short. Maybe they are dejected and hurt Maybe not The game today against the rams . . . .has shaking my confidence in the Texans. I still think they beat Miami . . .but . . . .New England may have something to play for . . . or just don't wanna go into the playoffs with a loss [How far are they from a BYE WEEK? cause it seems they NEED A BYE] Rocket River Tough Road to hoe
No, in ties of three or more teams, ties between teams in the same division are broken first and then the top teams in each division are compared.
Are you sure about this the website doesn't seem clear on this. It doesn't make sense that division record would matter for a wild card. Wild Card should be based on conference record.
Yeah Titans will be ahead of the Texans if they both win out. However, I think the Titans will lose one if not both of their final two games. Seattle is tough at home.
http://www.nfl.com/standings/tiebreakingprocedures TO BREAK A TIE FOR THE WILD-CARD TEAM If it is necessary to break ties to determine the two Wild-Card clubs from each conference, the following steps will be taken. 1. If the tied clubs are from the same division, apply division tie breaker.
But I think Baltimore would be tied at 9-7 too...... What happens if the Texans, the Titans and the Ravens are all 9-7? Heck, the Dolphins too......lol DD
The Titans would eliminate the Texans to get it down to only one team per division. Then the Titans would get eliminated by virtue of losing all other tiebreakers. The only way the Texans or Titans make the playoffs is if they make it outright - they both lose all the tiebreakers to all the other teams, I believe.
I know they are but the Chargers are the hottest team in the NFL right now other than the Colts. Seattle is one of the toughest places to play in the NFL even though the Seahawks are pretty bad this year.
Wow, so the Titans could play the role of kingmaker in week 17 if the Texans, Titans, and Steelers are all are 8-7 going into it. If the Texans and Steelers win, the Titans couldn't make the playoffs but could put the Steelers in by winner or the Texans in by losing. The hatred would just go up that much more if they eliminate the Texans that way...
