This poses a health problem. Afghanistan could have a hidden widespread AIDS problem, since HIV is easy transmitted by gay sex. It affects everybody even the children. There cound be millions of little boys and girls with HIV passed down by their fathers to the mothers to the child.

There are certain things that don't require walking in someone else's shoes. Its unacceptable regardless of culture. Culture only provides an excuse for immoral and unethical behaviour.

Frontline did a special on it, which I haven't watched yet. I thought underaged sex and sexual slavery happened just about anywhere in the third world, so it seems to me the only difference here is the irony of a fundamentalist society and the whole male-male thing.

What is this, the 80s? AIDS is easily transmitted via any kind of sex. Maybe not ear sex.

Transmission probability is more than 10 times higher for receptive anal sex than vaginal sex.

What you call immoral and unethical behavior now has been in man's history forever.

You'll accomplish nothing using the ruler you use now to measure the past.

Wouldn't that mean that there is less than a 10% chance of it being transmitted via vaginal sex? That's much lower than I thought.

The Taliban and extremist contradict the Quran much more than anyone else. The Quran calls for equality and respect towards women, they obviously don't go respect that, it talks about using intellect and its god's gifts, it talks about the killing of an innocent is a million sins and forgiveness, it talks of christians and jews as the people of the book and have their own way to salvation and its all the same god...yet they call them infidels and try to kill them, infact the people they kill and harm the most are muslims...they are exclusivist and the only kafars(non believers) as far as I am concerned. There roots are pre islamic arabia and cultured mentality, they let their social and political agendas and use and manipulate the religion for their sake

No, it's actually very common among them. I've specifically heard that it's common in Pathan culture. I've also heard that many child molestors used to go to Afghanistan for what they would call "sex tourism" (I just threw up).

If it's common, I see no reason why anyone should hide it. If these people are being immoral, it's better to expose them because I'm sure as a Muslim you want to distance yourself from them and you want it to be plain-vanilla obvious why they are so different than you are and how far away from Muslim values they stand.

Except for the last one, which is indisputable, why are they unacceptable? Provide an argument that doesn't involve me having to walk in someone else's shoes why it is unacceptable.

I don't understand what this has to do with being Muslim? Afghanistan is the last place for anyone to expect to see Islamic values being represented. Hell each tribe in this fragmented country holds different values and practises of Islam from each other, that should tell you enough. Only an idiot would believe these hideous crimes are in any way related to "Muslim values".

Nobody is sure if it is widespead, don't get how you "heard that it is common" makes it anything more than hearsay. I'm sure there are pedophiles like in any other country, they might have more than the norm because of their history, but I doubt that it is common in Pathan culture. Since you like anecdotal evidence, I know some Aghani's here in Toronto and they call this claim BS. Yes there are cases of where this happens, they don't deny that, but to say it is part of their culture is laughable. Hence my comment.

    1) I agree that they don't act with Islamic values. It's not clear enough though. Unearthing these things will make it clearer. Maybe if you ask an Afghani about this they will be able to convince you.

    2) It's not just anecdotal. It's quite common for them to get caught in Dubai. As I mentioned, the sex tourism thing happens - that's a pretty clear sign.

I'm not saying it's something that's genetic with Pathans. I'm just saying that it happens among them far too often and it's no secret in the Middle East.

Call it hearsay if you like. For me, it's obvious that it's a problem and my concern for those children sits as a higher priority than protecting the reputation of those groups of people.
