You can’t rebuild what never was. This is not Mesopotamia or Japan. There is not real culture It’s Afghanistan. The area was governed by Iran (Safavid) and India (Mughal) in the 1600s and it did not become a state until it revolted against the Safavids in the 1700s. It was a battle ground between the British and Russians, an emirate, a monarchy, then a Soviet puppet before it became an emirate again. Tajiks should go to Tajikistan and let the Pashtuns enjoy their authoritarian paradise.
These sort of attempted gotcha comparisons happen all the time, and they're stupid. Twitter didn't suspend Trump because he holds despicable views and policies. There are plenty of mouthpieces on Twitter promoting Trumpism. They suspended him for being a serial violator of their TOS. Spokesmen/diplomats are trained to communicate without committing such violations, while Trump is undisciplined and untrainable.
Completely irrelevant question. He was "worse" in his adherence to Twitter's TOS. That's all that matters.
He said we achieved our goals? What a joke. It's a massive failure. The American (UK, elsewhere) people had enough. We didn't care anymore. Very soon this will be over and done, what we were hoping for. The suffering of the Afghan people... hopefully the Taliban is true to their word of 'no revenge' but that was not a requirement for us getting out. We didn't care anymore. Let's not pretend now we do (not to you but to all of us and other Western countries involved). What a failure of US (and other Western) intelligence. They did not think the Taliban could take over this quickly. If they did, they would have evacuated much sooner. It's just another stark reminder of the reality of how much we just did not understand the culture in Afghanistan.
At following Twitters' rules? It seems so. Can you point to the tweets on that account which violate twitter rules? Or did you just copy and paste a random tweet you found to try to score political points?
Once again this narrative that the withdrawal was done hastily is bidens fault?! How the hell could he have known the entire Afghanistan military wouldn't even put up a single fight. There's less then 5k dead Afghani troops. You don't lose an entire country with less those few casualties. The Afghan military is a effin joke. The fact that Afghanistan fell within a week is why biden was 1000%, right and why he was so courageous do what he did. Afghan is a effin failed nation and us spending hundreds of billions and risking our troops when they don't want to die themselves is a joke. I've honestly never been prouder of a president making a tough decision. We all knew this was going to happen If I'm biden I demand the resignation of his joints chiefs and other generals by Monday morning
I’m pretty sick about this. Not because of our failure to implement some kind of Middle Eastern democracy - that was always bullshit. Our occupation of Afghanistan was mainly about finding a scapegoat for 911 and then using our subsequent invasion to enrich the favorite. corporations of the neocons. It was also a practice run for our invasion of Iraq. But democracy? - nobody in power was serious about that. No what makes me sick is that all the people in Afghanistan who had everything to lose by working with our troops and contractors now have nothing but an oppressive and likely violent future. All of their efforts were for nothing and unlike our troops (whose efforts were also for nothing), they don’t get to “come home.” Biden, his Cabinet and his generals should be absolutely ashamed of their total failure to get our Afghani allies out of there. Why the hell wasn’t a comprehensive evacuation plan in place before announcing our withdrawal. Prioritizing an arbitrary date of withdrawal over these very real human lives will haunt all future foreign relations and military interventions for at least the rest of my life probably. And I imagine it will haunt the memories of the troops and contractors who worked directly with these Afghanis. In the longer term, I hope the utter disasters we created in Afghanistan and Iraq puts a stop to softening of attitudes toward the W presidency. He may have been less appalling in his public behavior, but as an actual leader, he was just as bad as Trump.
Wow... just read what you wrote aloud. I hope that in the future, someone people (especially people that supported me) don't compare me to the Taliban...
Biden is a ****ing pos. This is an embarrassing moment in history. Wonder what the small cohort of ppl that supported us will think now especially when a good portion will be slaughtered This whole thing was nothing but a ruse to funnel resources to contractors/corps. Old rich men send the young to go die and fight wars they started
It fell within a week because there was never. A concrete plan outside of funneling resources to defense contractors and the withdrawal was announced well in advance. Why would the taliban exhaust any resources when they know the US is going to withdraw in a set time? They’ve basically been doing a blitz akin to Germany circa 1940s. Biden is a pos and so Is Trump for how he betrayed the kurds
Hilarious how every vet I know knew this was the outcome yet you morons want to risk more American lives. It's easy being a neocon online and wanting forever wars Yeah biden has blood on his hands by removing our troops from harms way . Forever wars for you fat slabs who talk a big game online
