I would love to add these guys... Chris Duhon Kyle Lowry James Jones Ben Gordon And I think that they can all be had, with Gordon being the most difficult to snag.
I live in DC and got to see ROger ason play. DUde is tha truth. He's would even be an ideal thrid option. I'd be so happy if we get him and plus he 's flying under radar. Dude could jsut straight out ball. I think he's better than tha cat.
Of those guys, I like James Jones the most. Portland was very high on him last season. I remember the coaches gave him a lot of the credit for the good start they had.
I've wanted James Jones on the team for the longest time. It's frustrating because other teams are getting him for cheap: Indiana got him with a late pick, Phoenix got him for basically a 2nd rounder, and Portland got him AND a first rounder (Fernandez) for a trade exception. It's enough to make me want to pull my hair out. If we have enough money after re-signing Landry, I definitely want this guy.
If you just look at on the court skills and abilities, Ricky davis is exaclty what we need. He can shoot, defend, and has more atheleticism than any SG/SF non star free agent. I think we should get him. The attitude/selfishness is only a problem when guys like that play on bad teams. Antoine Walker is similar. When he was on the heat and mavs he was fine but if he feels he's one of the best players on a team he's going to take too many shots, the same goes for Ricky.
Michael Pietrus. Good Size, average defender. But I think his shooting will improve. .44 FG% .35 3P%.
It seems like every season Maggette is the most mentioned player to move to another team but never moves. Kind of funny. Always "going," but always "stays."
i'm tired of 1 dimensional role players. (chuck, novak, head, etc) we need a reliable dominating player who can take over the game and create shots for tmac or yao. morey really needs to try to get maggette or artest now that miller is out.
(1) Bobby Jackson, Steve Francis, Chuck Hayes, Donte Greene for Corey Maggette, Tim Thomas, 2nd Round Pick. (2) Luther Head for a 2nd Round Pick. FA: Sign Carl Landry, Jannero Pargo, Brent Barry. PG: Rafer Alston | Jannero Pargo | Aaron Brooks SG: Tracy McGrady | Corey Maggette | Brent Barry SF: Shane Battier | Tim Thomas PF: Luis Scola | Carl Landry | Steve Novak CN: Yao Ming | Joey Dorsey | Dikembe Mutombo
What makes Mason intriguing is his size and his ability to play minutes at the 1. It would be nice to throw his size at D. Williams.
Outside of unrestricted free agents, I think there are quite a few good players that the recent draft has rendered "expendable" by their current teams. 1. Raymond Felton - the Bobcats drafted DJ Augustin so there will be some difficulty with playing time in that rotation and word is Felton could be on the way out. On the Rockets I think he'd get a great opportunity to justify his being picked 5th in his draft. 2. Sergio Rodriguez or Rudy Fernandez - The Blazers got Bayless but now have a logjam at PG. They already got rid of Jarrett Jack in the Bayless deal but might also look to move one of their two international point guards, with Rodriguez being much more likely. Portland's line-up is looking nasty however, and a SF veteran may be just what they would be willing to take on in order to give up Fernandez. I love Battier as much as anyone, but would you be able to resist an Outlaw-Fernandez for Battier-(change) deal? 3. T.J. Ford - People like to talk about Kirk Hinrich, but this guy might be an even better fit for the Rockets. I know he just got traded, but he still has three years left on his relatively overpaid contract, and my bet is that Indiana would give him up for an expiring like Bobby Jackson and some picks for the future. The only question of course is his health status, which would make his being traded at the deadline all the more likely if he could prove to people he could stay healthy through the first half of the season.
Here's to hoping Landry takes the LLE so that this thread can actually become relevant to our offseason!
DD,
Listen, im not the usual DD basher, I even completely agree with you on the whole Gerald Green thing. But......
BENO UDRIH IS A VERY GOOD PLAYER WHO THE KINGS WILL KEEP
Saying we should go after Beno Udrih is like saying we should go after Jose Calderon, ITS NOT HAPPENING
The kings are talking about offering Udrih the MLE. We could offer him the same money AND a chance to contend for a championship. Why wouldn't he come here, given the chance? These are his numbers last season, when he had a good year. G MIN FGM-A FG% 3PM-A 3P% FTM-A FT% OFF DEF TOT STL BLK TO 65 32.0 328-707 .464 53-137 .387 125-147 .850 0.5 2.8 3.3 .86 .15 2.28 PF AST PTS 2.12 4.3 12.8 I think Boston was frustrated with Rondo's lack of shooting and his youthful bad decision making. Would a Rafer for Rondo+salary trade be a good one? I love Rondo's defense, like his penetrating ability, and like his passing. I think he got a bad rap in Boston, but like I said, they might be interested in trading for a vet like Rafer that can effectively run an offense. I think an Udrih and Ronda combination would be decent, but I would certainly settle for Rafer and Udrih. Thoughts?
