Look at what you wrote: "If I wanna".

I would say that's different from being told, "You must live in the Fifth Ward to patrol it as a police officer". The way you're putting it, it's a voluntary matter for you. That differs quite a bit from the HPD telling its 5th Ward officers, "Start shopping for a house in the 5th Ward".

Geographical relocation for a job--- from Texas to Indiana-- is not the same thing as being forced to live in a specific neighborhood.

This is a very common goal in city, county and state employment recruiting. Especially in service-related areas. It is a state law in Texas.

Recruitment plans seek to have a workforce that reflects the makeup of the general population that it serves.

This is accomplished by conducting a workforce utilization and identifying the groups that are under-represented in relation to the general workforce.

Once identified, recruitment is focused in that area.

    My Point was.
Recruit from 5th ward. . . then when they wanna move . .
they need to apply to the area they wish to move. . . .Once
their transfer goes through . . . they move.

it would be part of the job. It is not different than Geographical Relocation except in scale.

I worked an apartment complex when I was on the job and did NOT enforce the law equally because most of my neighbors were my friends and the rest of the people knew where I lived. People would knock on my door 24/7 for me to handle problems, it sucked.

Your statement is based on the fact that people never deserve a beat down, sometimes they do!

    B4 you trip, check this.

There was an apartment leasing chick who kept complaining about her boyfriend beating her up. One night while I'm hanging out at the pool, dude starts beating the girl up, RIGHT THERE IN FRONT OF EVERYBODY. Who they gonna call? Damn sure not 'Ghostbusters'! So here I am in a full blown fight with a guy that I have played basketball with, and before the domestic situation, a guy that I'd considered a friend.

If not for a lucky punch I could have gotten seriously hurt for just being there!

Dude went to jail, shortly thereafter I moved.

    My recommendation....squash the neighborhood gibberish.

So you worked in the same neighborhood you lived? Or did you live there and work somewhere else?

If ole girl kept complaining. . . why was nothing done about it?

So you saying. . . this situation would have been better had you not been there?

So now you're saying that you want each section of the city to have their own separate police force? Yeah..that'll work.

If not...then it's a bogus argument. If I work for the parks department I can live ANYWHERE in the city I choose and can afford. But you don't want to allow the same for cops. Boy...so much for the freedom of movement in this country.

    1. I lived in the apt. complex and patrolled the same area.
    2. She never pressed charges, just complained.
    3. You damn right it would've been better, better for me. I wasn't Superman, didn't dig on saving the day. I was off duty.

Ideally all segments of government, education, and the work place would reflect the racial make up of the community but it doesn't seem very practical in this particular context.

    DallasThomas:

I have also experienced that type of bias from police. When I'm with white friends and get stopped it's much more casual and boys being boys type of stuff let us off with a warning however if there are minorities in my party the tension level seems to ratchet up and we're much more likely to be searched, threatened, ticketed, etc.

I realize I'm jumping into the fray with the liberal three-headed monster (Rocket River, Timing, and Another Brother), but....

Ideally all segments? Hmmm....what if the Rockets team reflected the racial make up of the community? Well, we'd better call Matt Maloney, Bull, Serge, Scotty Brooks, and Dan Langhi back! Kinda blows your theory. Hire the best people for the job, irrespective of race. Free labor markets = efficient labor markets. Case closed.

NO we saying ONE POLICE FORCE
Just choose Police who live in the community
    to work in that community.

The ideal is they are less like to sh*t where they live
And the folx where they live you be a little more on there
toes known a police officer is ALWAYS around

TJ just called me a liberal. I just want that entered into the record.

Leave it to you to give the most extreme example possible. If we're all free and equal then there's no reason why the racial make up of GM's corporate offices shouldn't mirror that of the assembly line in that same community.

I wasn't intending to associate negative connotations with the use of the word liberal. Let me rephrase my characterization: the politically left-of-center triumverate.

let me rephrase it for him then....
    "The politically left-of-center, three-headed, physical-appearance-challenged/not-so-nice triumverate"
