Well, that would be assuming he wins the Super Bowl this year, which is certainly on guarantee.

If Larry Bird and Magic Johnson were never born, Jordan would have as many rings as Russell.

    Yep.

More like "If the Colts hadn't choke in so many 1st games, than they'd have more superbowls the 49ers"

Where's Manning's place in the all time great quarterbacks list if he wins another Super Bowl this year and when everything is all said and done?

    Yeah, hypothetical situations are useless.

I think if the Colts win the Super Bowl this year he's right there with Elway as the best ever.

Well how much weight does a SB win carry? Montana and Bradshaw have 4, but Bradshaw is hardly in the discussion of all time best QBs (and rightfully so IMO).

I think you could argue now that he is the greatest of all time. When all is said and done, I don't know how you could even argue against it. He still has a lot of football ahead of him.

I think the true greats have to have at least multiple Super Bowl appearances.

Marino got there but never won, Elway carried Broncos teams there and lost, but finally found success in his latter years.

Favre is up there too, especially if he reaches the big one later today.

i'm already on board with this. But another ring should put to rest the "championships" argument imo. I think multiple rings should hold up along with the incredible numbers, and, more importantly, what you see him do on the field.

Do you have a top 5 at the moment? Curious where you rank Brady.

Rex Ryan really shouldn't have punted on 4th and 5. You have to know the game is over if you punt it back to Manning down 10 with 8 minutes left.

    A little too conservative there.

I'm still putting Elway as #1, and believe me I hated Elway as a Raider Fan in the 90s... he was as clutch as they come. Masterful QB.

Peyton is my #2 right now, when all is said and done I expect him to be #1 though.

After that I'd say Favre, Montana, Marino, Brady, Bradshaw, Young, Unitas, Staubach... etc.

exactly. i hate people who just put rings as the main criteria for ranking players. their "stats" (yes, stats matter) and what their responsibilities are for the team matter greatly.

peyton definitely has the stats and the responsibilities. hopefully, he will get 1-2 more rings so he should get the real title that he deserves: GREATEST OF ALL TIME.

Sanchez and the Jest O are being exposed now that their defense doesn't have everything on lockdown.
