    Ravens - 17
    Steelers - 13

You heard it here first, folks. No NFL team has a tougher defense than the Ravens.

Don't be so sensitive. He didn't say anything negative about Pittsburgh just that he thought the Ravens defense is the toughest in the NFL. I think it is a credible argument.

Just one that can't be backed by stats.

How do you back toughness with stats? Baltimore finished right behind Pittsburgh in every defensive category this year. They may not be better looking at stats but he didn't say they were the best defense in the NFL just the toughest and it could be true.

OK, I'm confused... then how do you back toughness with stats?

Your initial post said "Just one that can't be backed by stats."

I thought you meant that Pittsburgh's defensive stats show that they are tougher than Baltimore. If you did not mean that then I apologize. But if you did.....

In my next post I asked "How do you back toughness with stats" and what I meant was toughness is more like a state of mind or an opinion and not something that can be backed by stats.

Maybe, but I'm right. (I think.)

Toughness is a BS description for any team that can't be backed by stats.

Hence my "Just one that can't be backed by stats."

I assumed Lil was using a rhetorical comment with the question and agreeing with me.

He disagreed that we were in agreement, so I asked how you back 'toughness' with stats.

But, again... maybe I'm just being extremely daft here, it has happened before.

I think Pittsburgh wins. But I have to say, I really don't care.

I'm hoping the Eagles win in the NFC. If they don't...and it's the Cardinals and either one of these AFC teams...I might find something else to do on the evening of Super Bowl Sunday.

I think the difference here is that the Ravens have gotten better as the year has gone on, and the Steelers haven't.

I expect the Ravens to win.

Bingo. It's all about being the hottest team when the playoffs start.

It was my fault; I have a bad habit of using 1 liners as response.

That being said, thinking about it...
4th down stat might be the best bet for 'toughness'.

    Baltimore at 18.8% (1)
    Steelers at 47.6% (13)

    Doesn't mean Steelers don't have the best D :D

That being said no one has more 'toughness' than the roided, dancing, knife killer Lewis.

Does anyone else here still find it almost impossible to root for the Steelers because of what they did to the Oilers during the Luv ya Blue era?

Its not sensitivity just having some fun with this. No, you can't back up toughness with stats but you're living in a bubble if you think Pittsburgh doesn't perennially have one of the toughest defenses in the league every year.

As for who the toughest really is: Don't tune in Sunday if you're one of those moronic shootout loving football fans that piss & moan whenever the halftime score is 7-7. You know, those "This game is boring/sucks" type of people. There's going to be a lot of hitting, talking, and straight hate coming from both sides. Players are going to get hurt and there's a million different variables in that regard. Can't wait!

And nobody denied Pittsburgh having one of the toughest defenses.

I'm hoping for a Pittsburgh-Philadelphia matchup but for some reason my gut tells me to go with the Ravens (sorry). Hopefully, I'm wrong. ;)
