Just got home from my first ever Houston Aeros game and man was it fun. These aren't just fans, they're die-hard Aeros fan, every other person was wearing an Aeros jersey, and let me tell you those things aren't cheap. Kinda had the feel of a Comets game, where the crowd cheared all together at certain points. I know that here in Houston hockey probably reaches a small niche market, like the Comets do, but I give the Aeros organization credit for putting on a good show and at very reasonable prices. I was never a big fan of hockey, from watching it on tv, but in person you really appreciate the game so much more, I know I'll be going to a few more games this year. Oh ya, also I had never seen so many people, that's men and women, with mullets, than I did at the Aeros game. I thought a NASCAR race was going to break out. Adrian
Actually hockey is quite big in Houston. There are a lot more fans than you think. When they won the Turner Cup in '99, it was awesome. It was a full house, something like 15,242 for most of the Finals. Unfortunately, when and if Houston gets a NHL team, the Aeros probably won't draw many fans. It's too bad, but enjoy then while they last! Aeros fans are great fans; it's just hard to believe that Houston is a farm team for St. Paul!!!!
