$1000 rent will get you a good 1/1 most places. Briargreen has some good deals but its more medical center area. there is another place on brompton and N. Braeswood what wasnt too bad.
Check the apartments along Brompton in the Med Center area...off Holcombe between Buffalo Speedway and Kirby. New ones have lots of hot chick nurses from the Med Center hanging out by the pool.
the heights right now is teeming w/ young folks... lots of new apartments, townhomes, etc. going up. nice bar, restaurant, music scene, and you could probably find a real nice 1/1 for $1000. plus you're within 10-15 minutes to just about everything (downtown, uptown/galleria/memorial, upper kirby, rice village/west u, midtown). upper kirby area would be a good choice as well, as well as the montrose/westheimer area (a little on the eclectic side, but it's still nice enough). just to let you know, the scene here for recent grads is phenomenal in town right now... there are a lot of people moving to houston b/c of the strong job market and the scene is a good as it's been in a long while. the as long as energy keeps booming, it will only get better.
yeah. i was about to move into that erd bricked complex on buffalo and holcombe (southern side) area. I held off but depending on where my next job ends up being, i will move there. FYI, they have a really cute girls showing the apts...go by for a "viewing"
You should check out some garage apartments in The Heights. You would be surprised how nice a lot of them are and most can be had for less than $800/month. All the benefits of living in The Heights and you don't have to share walls with anyone.
just go back and live with your mom in her basement. if your mom makes you pay rent, then what kind of mom is that?
None of those links work. Anyways... If you are just out of college I really wouldn't recommend The Heights. Sure, it is an up and coming area and it is very close to downtown, but at your age, what you need is a large apartment complex...especially if you are new to Houston. It's a great way to meet people (and women). I would check the Medical Center area as well as apartment complexes inside the loop, preferable south of I-10 and North of Braeswood. The larger and newer, the better
Yeah, I've tried rent.com, using the Chronicle's real estate listings (through apartments.com), and also har.com (Houston Association of Realtors). Just trying to find different options so I can compare them to one another. Thanks for all the serious replies.
there are several large apartment complexes in the heights (or areas directly surrounding the heights).
I know, I have friends that live in them (well two of them) I still stand by what I said about not going to the Heights (though i like the area) and choosing a different area right out of college. However, it does have The Tall Texan...
I live in the Heights in Alexan Heights off of I-10 & Studemont. There are a lot of 20 something young professionals here and the rent is reasonable. Don't get me started on the women either...OMG!!
Vanderbilt. I lived there from 1998-2001. Lots of hot nurses and nursing students hanging out by the pool. Scoring was plentiful. Moved out when I bought my house.
