I lucked out somewhat. I called and they had signed us up for two accounts before. We only needed one. But the lady initially thought I was reconnecting the old account even though I gave her the correct name for the existing account. She was going to give me a $100 rebate on the HDDVR set up. Then she found out that I was an existing customer and I wasn't eligible for any discounts. I didn't get mad, but I reminded her that I gave the correct info at the start of the phone call, and was told about the discount. She transferred me to the promotions department, and I was given the $100 off without any questions at all. They said the installation includes the new dish but there isn't a new charge for it. There is a $20 handling and delivery fee with the new equipment, plus $9.99 a month for HD programming, and $5.99 for the DVR service. So it will be a bit more each month. I hope it's worth it.
I only have it on my computer. I don't have it on the television, but when I get the new sound system I will definitely get one that is capable of surround sound.
Cool. This has all been really helpful. Thanks for the updates. I'll let you know how I make out when I eventually getting around to giving them a call!
Not sure if you already made your choice...too lazy to read through 8 pages. But I think Vizio maybe one of the best values out there. I have a 42 inch Sony and I love it, but my parents have a 50 inch Vizio and pretty much paid less. Vizio is made by Sony BTW.
BUMP For the TV experts (which I am not), is this a decent deal at Best Buy? Sony - 40" 1080p LCD HDTV $1,299 http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7986664&type=product&id=1155069777368
Wrong Gucci. They are California based company and their products are made in China or Taiwan. You can ask a Vizio and Sony rep, they will tell you its wrong.
its a good price. You can probably get a Samsung for the same or a Sharp for cheaper. you can't go wrong with the Bravia series.
Samsung definitely has the best LCD's. Also, check out Amazon and other online retailers. They BLOW Best Buy out of the water when it comes to price and typically have free shipping. I just bought a 52" Samsung LCD from Amazon on Wednesday and it will (allegedly) be here on Monday.
Which model did you purchase? I've been debating buying a 52" samsung from Amazon.com for about a month now.
I was looking at the Samsung 5271 for a while, and they are supposed to be one of the best LCD's you can buy. I did hear the glare can be a problem in a well lit room though. I finally decided on the samsung 5884 plasma instead and it should arrive hopefully in about a week. I used bestbuypcs.com and everything has gone really well so far, and they had the cheapest price I could find online.
Very nice. I've been debating the 71. I've seen it at Circuit City and the picture is unreal. I saw a Westhinghouse 52" on pricegrabber.com for $1,999.00. I know it's a step down but that is great price for a 52" lcd tv.
I have the Samsung 4071 LCD and it's sick. I never noticed how much grain is in these DVD/HD-DVD/Blu-ray transfers til I watched them on this TV. There is some glare if you're in a brightly lit room since it has a glass sheet over the screen, but if you dim the lights or turn them off, the picture is perfect. BTW, I bought it on Amazon last month for around $1449 including shipping. You can't beat that deal.
Seems like a lot of you got your TV's online. Y'all feel comfy buying such a costly piece of equipment off the internet and having it shipped, considering you didn't see it, etc?
