Question for Comcast HD Box owners: Have the comcast motorola HD Box and noticed that there is no HDMI input. I was using the RCA cables that came with it, but decided to get an HDMI/DVI cable since it only has a DVI input. Hooked it up today using the HDMI/DVI cable and used the audio cables (red and white) into the input Now my sound is off by about 2 seconds, making it look dubbed and the picture is much smaller in HD (almost 4:3) What am I doing wrong? Also, do any of you that have Comcast HD have a box with an HDMI input? Tinman?
i have a scientific atlanta box. the dvi-to-hdmi is not always 100%, i had a toshiba before it work just fine using a HDMI (box) to DVI (TV), but I guess you are the other way around. have you tried all the hd channels? sometimes its like that because of the programming (AEHD is notorious for 16:9 in 4:3). the sound thing sounds like a synch problem. you have a digital receiver? you should try the digital sound to see if it syncs.
Whats up with the Westinghouse TV owners?? Didnt they make like washers and dryers back in the 60's or something?? Its like their name brand TV's came out of nowhere. What gives Westinghouse TV owners? I mean to me its like Westinghouse = Hyundai Sony = Honda but what do i know.
Bang-for-the-buck, Westinghouse isn't bad, but yeah, they're not exactly top of the line or anything. And Hyundai's come a long away...
I'm actually looking and came across this one and the 50" version, which is $1500...i was also comparing this to the Toshiba #65HM167 DLP..This is only $1999 but still doing research...I've also come across the Samsung #HL-T5076S whichis $1700 at Circuit City and $1900 at Sears, which they price match... Anyone have any of these that could give me some pros/cons...I have a 720P tv, but want to capture the 1080P picture...? what's the difference between a Sony grand wega and a bravia...
Ok, I'm about to hop into the TV game now. One question though....why do folks pick these TV's over projectors?
http://www.ecost.com/detail.aspx?edp=3526407&adcampaign=email,EWBBASE&WT.mc_id=EWBBASE 1080p 37inch Westinghouse for only 600 bucks. I think it's a steal...I need money fast. The countdown continually says 45 hours left before the bargain ends...but it always says that til it runs out of tvs.
I know the Samsung DLP models from the last couple years had some sort of "rainbow effect" that people were talking about. Don't ask me what that's all about, but apparently it was noticeable to some and drove them nutz. I don't know much about the Toshiba, but I know the SXRD and Samsung DLP comparisons have always gone in the SXRD's favor. Which I suppose is no big surprise since the SXRD does go for a few hundred more.
Seems like a nice deal: http://blog.wired.com/gadgets/2007/07/review-vizio-gv.html Review: Vizio GV47LF LCD TV—HD Quality at Wholesale Prices By Danny Dumas EmailJuly 13, 2007 | 12:00:00 PMCategories: Reviews, Television Vizio What makes Costco great? A history of sacrificing quality for bulk! Where else can you purchase a 50-gallon drum of slightly rancid BBQ sauce and then chow down on a stomach-churning 99-cent foot-long Polish sausage? No surprise that Costco would apply this philosophy to its brand of Vizio TVs. The 47-inch LCD we checked out sported full 1080p resolution, a beautiful face, bright screen, and a 178-degree viewing angle. The set’s main drawback? The 1600:1 contrast ratio is paltry compared with the higher-priced brands, but that is nearly forgivable considering the price. The GV47LF is definitely not the sharpest HDTV we’ve seen, nor does it have the finest colors, but if you’re dining at Costco, it may be the one set that fits your budget. —Chris Gigoux WIRED Sharp 1080p picture. Remote is nicely appointed. Navigating menu system is a piece of cake. Touch-sensitive controls sit flush in piano-black finish. Sexy design means set can be the centerpiece of any home entertainment system. Cost: peanuts. TIRED Color tends to look washed out due to low contrast level. HDMI and VGA input only; no DVI. Rear inputs face downward, making it frustrating to plug in components. Detachable speaker bar lacks any discernible bass. $1699, vizio.com
if you have seperate room for a projector ( a dark room), then you should get it. for everyday tv watching, u should get a tv.
I haven't read too much on projectors but I think the known cons are the sound of the fan and most of all the need to watch it in a dim room. It's visible in a lighted room, but the colors aren't rich or deep if you watch it in one.
Bump again...I have been looking and this seems like a steal. They have 9 left. Any more input on this one?
How about this one? I notice it weighs a lot.... http://www.hhgregg.com/ProductDetail.asp?SID=2352C86A701541B8BAECFF925E0673D0&ProductID=16449 I hear the prices should be dropping in the next few months on LCD's?? http://www.hometheatermag.com/news/080907sharp/
