BUMP Still have not purchased an HDTV yet, but am now leaning towards the Sharp 42" Aquos 1080P LCD TV (LC-32D62U) As I stated before, when going to stores like CC and BB, when they put it on regular digital cable the pic looks pretty bad on most sets. Probably gonna get one in the next few weeks (online, not at a store)
I couldn't be happier with my 42" Westinghouse I bought a couple of weeks ago. Well, actually I would be a little happier if it had more than one hdmi port.
One of my concerns is seeing all the pixels on some sets. Anyone know a particularly good 42" where that isn't a big problem? Same sets in different stores seem to have a problem in one store and no problem in another
You shouldn't have that problem unless your viewing distance is within 5 feet. Also, here's a pretty good buy if you don't mind a 37" set and if you are on a budget: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16889022032&CMP=AFC-C8Junction I bought the Olevia 537V, and I think it's fantastic, especially considering how much money I saved by not buying a major brand.
Appreciate the recommendation. I'm not sure exactly what my viewing distance is gonna be, as we are moving on Saturday (from Dallas back home to Houston)
BUMP Okay...finally found an amazing deal (and a 10% off coupon on top of that) on a Sony 1080p 40" Bravia KDL-40V2500 and bought it last weekend. I called Comcast and they cannot install an HD Box for 10 days due to being backed up. They did tell me, however, that I can go to a Comcast Retail Location and swap my digital box for an HD box. My question is this: As far as conneting the HD box, do I use the same cable that is running from the wall (outlet) to the box, then connect the box to the TV via HDMI? Appreciate all the feedback from earlier and looking forward to an HD experience
sure. not sure about your tone, but whatever got it through Circuit City http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Sony...60778/catOid/-12869/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do Got an additional 10% off as well. It ended up being the same price as cheap internet sites, but there is no "restocking fee" if it is messed up.
Bought a 50" inch Pioneer 1080i Plasma for the family room upstairs and a 42" Westinghouse Plasma for my bedroom and they are awesome. You will really appreciate it for sports and movies.
Not reading the whole thread, but I'm more than satisfied with my 50" Samsung 1080P DLP. HD TV on it is awesome, and even my friends who own plasma's and LCD's gawk at the picture it displays. I bought for around $1900 back in October of '06, so I'm sure it's come down in price since then. Big fan. I'd like to thank tinman for showing me the light.
thanks. and buying HDTV helps save Whales too. cause Whales on Discovery Channel HD > Whales on regular cable
Lava on HDTV > poor people tv, too. Also, penguins on ice in HD > blows away basic stuff. Can't forget HDMusic > Old peoples VH1 Classic on 20 year old cable lines. 'Bode "getting" it.
Hooked up the TV last night and messed around with the calibration. Unfortunately, I still have my regular Comcast Digital SD box, so the picture wasn't too impressive (YET) Waiting on my HDMI cable from Amazon and my HD box from Comcast and then I should be ready to go. Can't wait
