it looks like Brinks over ADT. but the 3 year contract is a big turn down though. how many years is ADT? is it on yearly basis? thanks.
No, ADT is a 3 year contract too. Brinks does a free consultation. ADT charges $99. ADT says they'll put the $99 towards installation or refund it if you don't get the system, but who is willing to pay upfront?!?
If you already have a system built in and are just looking for a home monitoring service there are plenty of options. My parents used a company called Rollins, then Brinks and then ADT for at least 15 years. Towards the end of the contract ADT wouldn't even monitor the house properly like when an alarm went off. I did some research and realized it was a faulty battery in the alarm system sending no signal to the company. I used this as an opportunity to find a cheaper alternative for basic home monitoring. Now my parents pay like 5 bucks a month and their home is monitored by a company in California. They even have online alerts and they will send you emails stating which part of the house the alarm triggered at. (This is good if you are traveling out of the country on vacation. All of this is in addition to them calling your home and cell phones.
