A THIRD of our cap for the next 3 years to a 31, 32 and then 33yr old Gasol... i dont like it... esp wth all the talk of new cba kickin in next year making cap space/ luxury tax a much bigger deal.
Or they can flip Gasol plus filler for Dwight. Then what do we do? How do we do better? Even if the Warriors keep Gasol, how do we stack up to New Jersey or Dallas without a star to team up with?
I am ok if he is not coming to us. lol I am just saying compare Josh Smith and Pau, the age: advantage Josh the contract: advantage Josh. However, Pau gives can provide a inside threat, and we can run that inside out game we used to do with Yao.
agreed..he's $19 million/year for 2 years. we spend years collecting #assets to flip them for, at best, marginal improvement. also...i really don't like pau gasol. just sayin.
Doubt it. Lakers want long-term potential not Scola or Martin who are not playing up to their contracts. No way they'd stack up now. Kobe only has maybe 2-3 years left.
I'd be surprised if Gasol came here. Morey seems to follow a domino theory. Assuming the trade goes through, we have Gasol and the Lakers have Cp3. Nene is still free agent. That opens up the Lakers to trade for Howard, which opens up the Nets to trade Williams. After Lowry breaks out, he gets shipped to new jersey. In theory, giving us a team of Williams, Lee, Parsons, Gasol, and Nene. Keep in mind, I'm not saying that would have definitely happened, but I think that might have been Morey's plan. Now, Nene is locked in denver, williams will most likely not be traded (since Dwight won't go to the Lakers). Unless there's another player involved (Bogut, Jefferson) I don't think Morey makes the trade for Gasol.
His deal expires in 2014, so less than 2 1/2 years from now. Where Clutchfans got this "3 years for a declining, blah, blah, blah" thing from is beyond me. Also, his salary is lower than Scola and Martin's combined. If we kept Kevin Martin, then yes, we would be in trouble until he expires next year.
Then prove it. Yeah i feel ya. It just seems we have been riding the same roller coaster for 3 years. It's frustrating.
once again, why would the lakers make that deal as rumored BEFORE the offseason? it makes them worse for the rest of the year. they are better off making a smaller deal without gasol to just upgrade the PG position.
