I don't often agree with you but I definitely do here.

The Lebron is a quitter thing has officially reached mass hysteria. I thought that there's no way people would obsess over this more than the Kobe/Suns game, I mean the dude straight up admitted he mailed it in against Phoenix to make a passive aggressive statement about his coach/teammates.

I don't understand why people are consumed with hatred for a pretty good basketball player.

    Typical situation I see lately:

Lebron says his elbow isn't a problem
(He's both lying and faking it...somehow!!!!)

There is no rationale behind some of the crazy crap I'm seeing lately. Ugh. I can't believe I have to waste time defending someone who isn't even on the Rockets, because this anti-hype is out of control.

The dude averages 30, 7, 7. When he says he doesn't have a lot of bad games he's kinda telling the truth. Besides that, when you have people accusing you of being a quitter, it isn't shocking someone would come back with somewhat of a semi-sarcastic quip aimed at the media.

All it means is he is more concerned with one job than the other job. Marketing "Lebron James" is a job. Playing basketball is a job. Its all a job. The work he does for his NBA job benefits his employer more so than it does himself. So the main goal of him "doing work" is money. How can you fault him for doing his job? Trying to maximize his own income outside of the NBA. Sorry if it hurts the true sports fans feelings... suck it up.

He could have said, "Yeah, it's on me." ;)

Seriously, if he is really great and just had a bad game, he didn't have to be so defensive. Just apologize to the fans that he had a poor game in front of the home crowd and promise to do better next time. End of story.

Anybody that has a tat a foot high that says "Chosen One" on his back is going to be a target.

He has to step up these next two games and get the Cavs to the EC finals or he's looking at being compared to Dirk Nowitski, great player who can't will a team to win despite constantly upgrading the personnel on your team.

Why does this surprise anyone? When you've been told you're the second coming of Jordan since the age of 13, when you make hundreds of millions of dollars in endorsements, when you're a global celebrity, when a sizable chunk of the public worships you as a God, it's going to go to your head.

My take on this guy has always been that he's as talented a player who's ever lived, but he doesn't have the mental strength of the greats, and will come unglued under the right circumstances.

Agreed. Moreover, I don't quite get the whole quit on his team thing anyway. Did they want him to shoot 3-30? At some point, when you are legitimately having a bad game, you're having a bad game. The talking heads expected him to "go down shooting"? Yeah, because that would have resulted in a different outcome.

A better thing to discuss is Lebron's outside shooting, which always has, and continues to need work. He didn't quit on his team last game. He may have done so, indirectly though, in the offseasons, by not fortifying his outside jumper enough and instead working on his biznesses.

Moreover, the series still isn't over. Lebron just needs to come out and dominate for 1 quarter of the next two games, and Cleveland can coast, as they did in Game 3.

I don't expect it to happen, but you never know.

I think the Celtics had a litle something to do with his "bad game" as well. Heck, even when he plays against us, we have a very good game plan to limit his shots in the paint and force him to shoot contested jumpers (the weakest part of his game). The Celtics just focus on double teaming him whenever he comes to the paint. Making him a passer and none of those other guys have stepped up. Where is Mo Williams, D West, Parker, Shaq? I mean this is the 2nd round of the playoffs, you can't win against a good team with only one productive player. I don't care who that one player is. Dream had Cassell, Smith, Horry, and Drexler hitting open shots when he was double teamed.

If he was quitting he would stop taking shots altogether.

Why would he try to fail on purpose?

When Larry and Magic had bad shooting games, they had the ability to impact games in other ways...

Lebron wanted nothing to do with the Celtics.

i cannot believe what one game has done to lebron. i wish these same fans who say these things shut the hell up and never say a darn thing again if he does succeed (either tonight or sometime down in his career).

the dude had a BAD GAME. sometimes people mistake a bad game for lack of effort or whatever (and these fans think they have an MD in psychiatry or PhD in psychology or something). and lebron is right. he has been so godly since he has entered the league and ridiculous the past 2 playoff runs that when he has a bad game like the previous one, it's going to look bad. he can't be kobe and have a bad game and his team can still be competitive.

lebron does have a lot for this game (or else you wouldn't see something new from his game each year -> it means he does put in work in the offseason). i think he's arguably the most passionate player in this league (he actually gets mad when he loses ala last year not shaking hands with the magic).

this is why i think most fans are cynical and stupid at the same time. i can understand when people say this about tracy mcgrady (and even then a lot are false) b/c he has failed for so long throughout his career. but lebron has OVER-ACHIEVED with his teams (the talent level between his team and the rest of the elite teams aren't even close) throughout his career.

kobe can afford bad games, where his team will pick him up. and lebron can't? just b/c his team isn't as good when he is not playing at his best, that's his fault? the championship teams usually CAN afford to win games when their star player sucks for a game or 2 in a series. the cavs CANNOT. what can lebron do about it? continue to be godly and out of this world. that's the expectations he has set for himself i guess, and others now expect of him. oh well.

How does that make him an ass. He was telling the truth. We are so used to him playing on a high level everyday that when he puts on a subpar outing, it means he`s not trying hard.

Damn it must really suck to be a superstar.

he played the SAME WAY in game 2 for 3 quarters if you saw the game. he was just as hesitant in game 2 and passed up a ton of shots. so no, it wasn't a lack of effort.

he seriously has not adjusted to that elbow when it acts up. i think if he gets 2-3 days of rest + treatment, he can play fine. but one one day, (game 3 was the only game on 3 days of rest and he played fine), he has not looked good.
