If I remember correctly, it wasn't Benson that stopped AD from attending UT, but it was UT's poor play in bowl games and against OU. OU was coming of a title and had embarrased UT the last few years and AD wanted to play for a National Championship and thought OU gave him the better shot. He did get a shot at the title his freshman year, but OU got beat by USC.
Yes people know him by All Day (AD), but they also know him by his proper initials. Like saying only call Roger Clemens his prefered knickname, or SF only by the Franchsie or Chise, or Shaq only by the Diesel. Petty and immaterial people. I am happy to report I thought Bush was overrated scat back and AP was the best RB prospect I had seen in college for some time and should have been an early target for the Texans. I can't believe he lasted until #7. Shame AP, AD, whatever, didn't get some hardware by becoming a Longhorn. Great, great, player, just made a dumb mistake as a kid in Texas that should have known better. Good luck to him now, he is great to watch, hope he tears up the Packers next week.
Played against him...got my ass handed to me. But, I must admit, I watched that game and I loved it. Once I realized my fantasy team was screwed, I started rooting for him. Fun stuff today.
Is it true that his workouts involve holding an 80 pound dumbell in each hand and jumping onto a 48 inch tall box?
lol...yeah, fantasy football. Although, the results would have been the same regardless. AD can do more with space than any player in the NFL besides Reggie Bush...the guy is unbelievable.
It's crazy to watch the guy you sat next to and did a couple of projects with throughout a semester of college set a prestigious NFL record. That will definitely be a cool story to tell my kids/grandkids: "See that guy on tv tearing up the field? Totaly did a presentation on Darfur with him in North African Studies." He's a cool and down to earth dude too (and this was during his 2nd year, when the hype around him was crazy). Hell, he even covered for me on the roll when I had to skip class once. Great to see things like this happen for good people. Good job, AD! Keep it up!
I had been. The last couple of weeks (right after Minn announced he would be the 'number 1 guy') he'd hit 60 and 70 yards in each game, so I think I just got a little impatient. Won't make that mistake again though.
