Charles Rogers had just a broken clavicle too...but then he broke it again the next season. It may just be a broken clavicle, but it still keeps you on the sidelines...and getting hit just right will make that thing break again. Im against spending a high pick on a RB, so I wouldnt want the guy anyways...too much money against the cap.
It also depends on where he broke it. A fracture at the shoulder joint would probably be worse than a clavicular shaft fracture
I am certainly not posting this to make fun of AP as he's one of my favorite backs since Ricky, but honestly, this is the first thing I thought when I heard. Those of you watching the entire game, do you know why this is the first thing I thought?
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm-kay. I would gamble that they pick another defensive player. Just a hunch.
How's his durability concern when this is only his first semi serious injury? He also runs stronger, harder and wears down defenses as the game goes along so I'd say his durability is one of his strengths.
Here a cutout from the espn article: "Peterson had been fairly injury-prone in his Oklahoma career. He dislocated his left shoulder in fall practice in 2004, reaggravated it during the regular season and then had surgery in the offseason. He missed one game last season and was severely limited in three others with a sprained right ankle."
It's one of the most commonly broken bones in the body. I would also assume, from what I know that breaking it near the joints (AC and SC joints) would be a lot worse than breaking it on the shaft. The bone itself is an "S" shape, and because of that, it is often broken around that "S".
Yes, and no...I think. Typically, when you break a bone, it grows back much stronger, so you are less likely to break it again. With the clavicle, it's such a fragile bone, and it's in such a place to where it is commonly injured...especially in football. But also, on the other hand, what's saying that that second hit is gonna be in the same exact spot as the first one? You could just get hit again in the collar bone, and it'd be the same as the first time, meaning that the first break had no significance...if that makes any sense. And that goes for any bone, also.
