    Griffin slowed

With Jim Jackson unavailable Wednesday, the Rockets could not turn to Adrian Griffin to step in at small forward, as planned when the roster was put together.

Not only is Griffin not ready to play, since the end of the road trip he has been ruled not ready to practice.

Griffin had been going through practices for weeks but was unable to practice without setbacks in his recovery from offseason knee surgery.

"We're going to back off from practicing and rehab him," Rockets trainer Keith Jones said. "We put him on the floor and had him practicing. He could do everything, but he still had the limp and weakness. We're going to back off for a couple weeks and really strengthen it without the pounding on the floor. I think that's going to help him a lot."

Sucks that we'lll be missing him for even longer than expected:(

Thanks for the update. I wish he was fit but it's going to take a lot of time for him to be productive. We could really use his energy and defense.

This is a major reason I greeted his signing with a big yawn. He was always hurt when he played for Dallas and that was a major reason they let him go. That's why I found it comical when folks here were actually counting on him to produce on the court - he never seems to be healthy enough to make it on the court.

And when he comes back there is going to be some pretty good rust he'll have to shake off. And with the injury in the back of his mind, he'll be even more tenative.

Next time around, Rox should be more careful and stay away from selecting injury-prone players, physical or cerebral, especially those named Griffin.

Kinda sounds like one of the Astros free agent projects of the last few years. Pick up a guy who used to have it trying to catch lightning in a bottle only to have the guy spend a year or two rehabbing and then release him.

Another of the Rox management miscues?

Comparing this guy to someone like Bosselli who was headed for a sure trip to the HOF before his injury? C'mon!

Griffin was signed to be a potential role player and, if we were lucky, a decent defensive player at the three. It's not like he's Kevin Garnett.

Besides, all it said was he had a setback and would be out a couple more weeks. Big deal. Sometimes you guys can be such drama queens. :)

I'm insulted on behalf of the great posters in this thread and expect an apology forthcoming. And I've reported your post so your mod friends can witness your blatant name-calling rampage.

oh, and sucks for A Griff, but with the time he's missed he's not getting in the rotation any time soon. I'd rather see the scrub minutes go to boki anyway.

We traded Rice to get this guy? (indirectly)

Posey looks pretty good right now...

No we didn't. We also got Paitkowski and Jim Jackson.

3 for 1 swap ain't bad even if one of them has yet to suit up.

Posey is over paid. I'm happier w/ JJ alone as he has more offense. Then we also can sub in Pike when nobody else is hitting their shots. We'll see about AG.

JJ has more O? Did he miss last game to go look for it? Maybe he was in Memphis watching Posey dump 19 points...

The Rice trade was for Man-boobs. Of course we had to throw in our 1st rounder next year and the Drew obligation (Chicago's 1st or next 2 2nds)...oh and some cash.

Pike and JJ were FAs that we used our ME money on and could have signed both and kept Rice (and all the goodies we sent packing with him). Unless we use the trade exception money - we got hosed. Rice has spent more time on the floor than Meech (even thought Rice is now hurt). We basically gave UTAH some more picks to work their draft day magic so Les wouldn't have to pay a possible Luxury Tax.

Oh and Posey isn't over paid - he's WAY over paid. But JJs offense is about the same as Posey's so far (but at least he's cheaper).
