    The Mario pick was a bust waiting to happen. He's nothing but a workout warrior. That pick will haunt the Texans for years and years.

    Julius Peppers - 3 Solo Tackles
    Adewale Ogunleye - 3 Solo Tackles
    Javon Kearse - 1 Tackle 1 Sack
    Jason Taylor - 2 Solo 1 Ast 1 Sack

    Mario Williams - 2 Solo 1 Ast

    So based on that the rest of them suck too. Defensive ends don't make many tackles but if they get double teamed and open it up for the rest of the defense they are doing their job. We can't say anything after 1 game. That's just plain stupid if we do that. How about we assess him just a bit later? He is a rookie for gods sake. If this was year 5 and doing crap than okay. He can't do it himself the rest of the team has to do their part.

    One thing the other teams have that we don't have? Players all over the Defensive line. We don't have that kind of depth and talent.

    Ok ok I give up

    I guess after Mario gets 3 sacks by year ends and Carr leads us to a 3-13 record. Some of you guys would still say "OH oh wait until NEXT YEAR when we get to see Mario in his 2nd year, and Oh Oh David Carr is looking alil better" :rolleyes: :rolleyes:

    MY POINT is BOTH THESE GUYS arent WORTH the #1 pick and THE MONEY THEY ARE GETTING PAID! that's y you dont hear me say anything about Travis Johnson

    The Texans would need the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd pick for that. Unfortunately, they have some talent and with some of that Kubiack magic they'll muster the 5th pick. Which after some analysis by the braintrust (Kubiack, McNair, and Kubiacks lap dog GM) they'll pick Jeff Samardja. Leaving such talent as Dwayne Jarrett, Drew Stanton, Paul Polszulsky, Brian Brohm, Sam Baker, and countless others on the board. Go Texans!!!!

    I agree the Texans messed up...

    in that they keep moving Mario arond on the line. Leave him at DE, the position he played in college. Just let him try to get the QB instead of having him move on every play. I understand that there is a roation to keep the players on the D-Line fresh, but this guy is a rookie and has hardly ever played with his hand down. Just let him line up at DE and see what he can do.

    You can't declare a guy a bust until two to three years down the line. Just like Travis Johnson. Was he unimpressive last year? Yes. Does he have talent to play DT in the NFL? Yes. Is the type of player that needs to be called out and motivated? Yes. Has he vastly improved over last season? Yes. Give Mario some freaking time, he needs to get adjusted to the speed of the game and find his technique.

    And if were looking for scoreboard:

    Mario = 0 sacks
    Reggie = 0 touchdowns

    The thing that frustrated me the most was that I didnt really see him exploding off the line after the qb, and he didnt seem that quick laterally. I didnt like yesterdays game and I'm trying to be patient. Unfortunately we face the Colts next week and it'll probably get worse before it gets better.

    On top of all this he was playing against a great line over there in Philly. It's not like he played crappy against a weak line.

    for what it's worth, Michael Strahan started being good in his 5th year. Regardless, williams has a lot of work ahead of him. THe guy looked way overmatched/slow. It'll be interesting to see how he plays this week....

    Yeah, I agree with just leaving him in his original position where he seemed more effective in college. Afterall, i believe all those highlights we saw with racking sacks in college were when he was playing DE. He didn't start racking up those sacks until towards the end of the season also after he got comfortable with the scheme. So it may take him till mid season I'm guesstimating until we truly see him be effective.

    It's good to see him not complain about moving around outside of his natural position. It just shows to me that he's a team player. I read somewhere (i'll find the link later) that Kubiak and company had been debating about what to do with Mario Williams. The article mentioned that the coaches discussed about just leaving him in one position (which I think would be better with him being a rookie) as opposed to moving him around. If they do keep him at the DE position against the Colts I think we'll get a better guage of his progress.

    That's going too far, I am certain Carr can lead us to 4-5 wins and Mario will get at least 4-5 sacks.

    Forget Reggie Bush- we have DDavis, Lundy and Morency.

    This team is stacked with talent.
