I was in Galveston yesterday, every freaking tree in the whole town is dead from saltwater. All the beautiful live oaks on Broadway are d-e-a-d; every yard tree is dead, all the oleanders are dead. sad.
It's the first detail I noticed, aside from the wreckage and ships. And I hadn't heard about it at all in the news. That toxic sea-sewage did a job on the plant life.
Best of luck to you sir, you are a genuine nice guy and deserve all the happiness in the world. Hope to have you sitting in our section come playoff time.
I've lived in the Fort Worth area for 18 years. Pretty is not a word I would use to describe it. I guess it is in the eye of the beholder.
The trees are dead from the salt spray. If they had been soaked down with simple water after the storm they could have been saved, but its probably low on the list of priorities. Also, many of the "dead" trees are in shock and might recover. Let's hope so.
Welcome to the good side of the Metroplex. Where the people are friendly and the prices are affordable. FW is much more like Houston in a lot of ways. I live on the edge of Hurst & Ft. Worth. Sometimes I'll drive in to Dallas to catch a game with RRJGAMZ and the others. Ft. Worth definitely has some neat places. My wife is a teacher, and I used to work on the major High School Sports shows in the area, so I know the school districts fairly well. The Northern parts of Ft. Worth are exploding with growth, and the Northwest School District is expanding like crazy. (opening several new schools over the next few years). FWISD is always looking for qualified teachers, and Keller is still growing & hiring as well. Saginaw ISD has one of the top starting salaries in the state..I think its around 40K. Grapevine-Colleyville ISD isn't growing much, but the starting pay is decent there too. As for nightlife & restaraunts, just ask & I'll answer whatever questions you may have.
Thanks for the kind words guys. Taking the bull by the horns really seemed like the only thing to do at the time.
good luck Xero I'll hit you up to join us for a Mavs game if I ever make it up there. Sounds like your in a good situation.
Fort Worth is awesome. I went to TCU and loved the town. Always enjoy going back. Perfect place to raise your kids. Congrats You need to order a Perotti's Thin-Crust pizza (only the thin, the normal is garbage) ASAP
