I wont disagree but I think it would add some weakness while gaining strengths at the same time. He would be a below average 3 at dribbling and passing. While above average on rebounding and definitely creating his own penetration being strong to hold onto the ball creating fouls (need I also mention his face up shots, woot). I think this could work if Artest plays the 2 more often letting Landry play some minutes off of Battier. His defense could still improve
Definantly, but when you lack scoring inside at the end of games, why not put him in there...even if we throw up a brick, he is qick enough to go get it and stick it back. We just look so dead at the end of games, Landry would give us some life. He was great at finishing games last year....What makes this year any different? Artest hasnt been the answer.
I dont think there is any dif, he can still finish. I will defend coach on that play to the last minute but some of the stuff he does I disagree with. But it is also to say my disagreement doesnt make it wrong (nor anyone else disagreement) Look at Alston. Coach stuck with him thru his slump and now look at him, he has been playing very good compared to past whether you hate him on the team or not. Thats what coach does, he lets them know he believes in them and plays them thru the slump. My opinion is were getting to close to 8th seed for us to be taking chances but his decisions have paid off. I hope his current ones will too. I as a fan want to see some good stuff happening right now so we ask for something dif. I agree Artest hasnt been the answer (offensively) but (to everyone not just jvg) his defense has been encouraging. I do not think he is the answer or somewhat close. But I do think he can and will be part of the equation. I do not think a trade with Artest will help especially with Battier seemingly loosing his touch. I will however ask you all to think about this. Wafer in his last few games as a starter compared to Tmac being back. They brought the same thing except Wafer is able to to bring just a bit more defense at the cost of playmaking decisions. I already know a trade wont happen and if it did it wont involve Tmac but put Shane and Tmac off the bench. Start Artest at the 3 with Wafer. Tmac can still get starter minutes but now you have explosiveness in Wafer that Tmac doesnt (and lets face it Wafer can shoot better then Tmac) and stronger (as of lately at least) defense from Artest then Battier. Artest will have to acknowledge he is still the 3rd shoot I would prefer 4th scoring option after Yao, Scola then Wafer. You have to let Artest know to expend his energies playing defense. Bring in Tmac with either Landry or Battier (both at the 3 like JvG suggested). With Landry coming in at the 3 you still get that explosiveness that left with Wafer and now Tmac and his playmaking is in. And if a trade ....nm.
