Both very good coaches. I think Adelman has adjusted well to the roster and has good control of the team. I think his weakness is not playing enough to the strengths of the players and defining a style of play. That is a little picky because he has made some significant adjustments as far as running the offense through Yao in a half court game. I think he has an opportunity to get Battier more looks for 3 from his sweet spot in the corner and he could run more set plays for Artest to get to the basket. I also think he does a good job of substitutions. I think Van Gundy wasn't as much a control freak as it appeared as far as the players, most veteran players loved playing for him and he is more suited to a veteran starting line up. I think he was a perfectionist on the defensive end and very good motivator which in combination produced some very good defensive teams. I think offensively he played to win using a set style and good defense to keep games close. Very few times you saw a Van Gundy team inconsistent or lacking effort. Van Gundy's weakness was that if a player didn't buy into the team or work hard on his game and earn his time JVG didn't make compromises. I think he expected his 2 stars to lead by example and I don't think he would take any bull from TMac down to the #12 player. This probably cost him his job in the case of not playing players that the owner valued. I would rather have Adelman right now, and I hope we extend his contract. That is the Rocket fan in me. Even though I am glad we have Adelman I voted Van Gundy and here is why. reason #3- I had the opportunity to have breakfast with him and spent one hour asking him Rocket questions and he answered every one honestly and bluntly. Best time I have ever spent with someone from a pro franchise. reason #2- I really like the way he was/is a Rocket fan-homer; he defended Yao, took the fine, he started the Rowdies; he always pulls for Houston and he loved Houston as a city; I just like that about him. reason #1- He is funny as all get out; one of the best interviews and personalities we have had in Houston. That's all
