the interview after the magic game (i think) is the one where he says he was supposed to be back in february or around there. either way we can both agree that he clearly does not look like a guy who has recovered early from this procedure. i've had microfracture before. you feel great sometimes but then if you over work your knee you have a bad rebound effect and it can bother you for a week or more after.
Question it because the agreement was that he would play around 7 minutes for the first six games then his minutes would increase so that he could get back in the rotation slowly. But adelman changed that. So obviously he doesnt care about gettin him back in the rotation which is unfair to t-mac. Playin 7 minutes accomplishes nothing and proves nothing. Increase his minutes an get him back in the rotation or trade him. Theyre screwin t-mac by doin this.[/QUOTE] i don't think there was any agreement. i think the original story was they would play tmac limited minutes for 6 games and evaluate his progress. i don't think there was any agreement to up his minutes. can anyone find the original story? ...and if tmac were 100% healthy (or even 90%) then i don't think the rockets would be screwing him as you say. he hasn't been hustling back on defense and his motion in the offense has been very limited. he still has the passing and solid handles but he has been moving like he is still not close to healthy imo.
How many here were even alive or able to drive a car when Rick was ruling Portland to a couple of NBA Finals? Why does Rick Adelman need to be careful? Is this guy Michael Jordan? Is this dude clearly the best player in the NBA coming back? is he Olajuwon? Is he a defensive player of the year or MVP or NBA Finals MVP? It's obvious that the Rockets ownership AND team have faith in the decision making of their coach. Some of you guys act like we are the Clippers. No suckers, this is the Rockets.
No kidding! It's like... ..walking into a fine restaurant, calling the chef and telling him/her to be be careful of the frying oil on his pan. ..walking into a Ferrari dealership, calling the owner and telling him/her to be careful of a bounced check. ..walking into Hooters, calling the waitress and telling her to be careful about showcasing her hooters. ..walking into a police station and telling the cops to be careful of about high calories at the local Dunkin Donuts. Trivial issues. It's Rick ****ing Adelman we are talking about here. Not Vinny Del Negro.
Sure some people weren't old enough to see him coach Portland, but you have to respect the guy's resume. Coach's resume: 2 NBA Finals Superstar's resume: No playoff series wins ever People are questioning Rick Adelman? You know if we had Phil Jackson, the same people would say "How comes PJ not treat Tracy like Mikael Jordan?"
The Rockets are not winning a championship without McGrady. Why not give him a chance to get back into form? Of course he's not going to look great in 7 minutes a night. That's tough. Adelman hasn't even given Mcgrady one whole game to try to get into a rhythm. I don't think he has handled this situation well.
They are not winning one with him either. Anyways, let's take it slow. Let's talk about second round first. # of second rounds won during Mcgrady era with McGrady playing = 0 # of second rounds won during McGrady era without McGrady playing = 1
I don't remember anyone saying that this was a great team. I seriously doubt that anyone expects this team to contend for a title (with or without McGrady). That however, doesn't mean that they don't have a good thing going. The Rockets have far exceeded the majority of people's exepectations. Have you not seen the dozens of articles about the overchieving Rockets? It's pretty much the lead story every place we play. The Rocket's performance has been greater than the sum of it's parts. They've been doing it with hustle, unselfishness, ball movement and a running game. That's the style of play that has allowed them to outperform expectation. Adelman's fear is that if he give McGrady minutes then they will have to change their style of play and they wouldn't be as successful. Adelman said it in recent interview, McGrady will change their style of play and he doesn't believe they can be successful running everything through McGrady. "You know, he was a great player," Adelman said, "and you could go and run the offense through him and all the other guys benefited from it. But now if you're going to do that, because of the injury and the rehabilitation coming back, he suddenly can't do that and we can't go to that. And now that that's happened, it's tough. So we're trying to see if we can't keep a flow where he can still get his touches yet we don't have to put the whole onus on him right now, and that's the dilemma. We need to play a certain way, and he needs to get a feel for what we're doing. And we knew it was never going to be easy." http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=4772672 Adelman sees McGrady is practice and he obviously feel like McGrady isn't able to be the focal point of the offense like he use to be and that going back to that style would prevent us from doing the things that have allowed us to be successful. Adelman is trying to find a way to get McGrady integrated to our new style, but it's not easy. It's a huge change for a guy who's been use to being the focal point of the offense and the new approach doesn't fit McGrady's style of play very well. If McGrady was still the McGrady of old, then you can bet that the Rockets would be willing to change their style because the alternative could also be successful. Right now they don't think that it can be. For us to be successful with McGrady being the focus of the offense, he has to be able to consistently play at a high level. Right now he can't do that. It's not that the Rockets won't change their style under any condition, it's just that they're not goint to change to something that they don't feel will give them as good of a chance to win. When Yao returns next year, our approach will change. The difference is that the new style incorporating Yao will not hurt their chances of winning games. In fact, adding Yao should make them much better since he doesn't prevent them from doing most of the things that have worked for them this year, plus Yao plugs many of the weaknesses of the current team.
The Rockets need to get McGrady out of Houston ASAP for the good of this BBS. These threads are dragging the collective intelligence here into r****d territory. This thread is beyond stupid. Your parents should take away your internet access for this, Mathloom.
Adelman has lied to McGrady and the Rocket's fans! No player can trust him as the Player's Coach he once was. Yao needs to get things straight with Les Alexander now and have it in writing!! Otherwise part two may come at the beginning of next season!! Yetti
What was the lie? When he plays, it’s going to be very short minutes, for the start of this,” Adelman said. “With Trevor out, the more I thought about it, it’s a good time to play him. He will see some short time between now and Christmas, just to see how he feels.” http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=ap-mcgradyactivated&prov=ap&type=lgns Did he play short minutes up until Christmas? Did Adelman's quote promise extended time after Christmas? I fail to see where McGrady or anyone was lied to.
Haha @ OP Nah. Mr. NBA-finals-coach-and-multiple-playoff-year-coach hasn't the slightest clue.
