how is he going to hurt cap if he doesn't have a contract? We can offer him any amount of money. Its up to him to except it or not.
Taylor isn't a PG. Llull is probably two years away from coming over if he ever comes over at all. The best way for Brooks and Lowry to grow at this point is to get playing time. It's also the best way to increase their trade values if you ultimately plan on moving either of them. No to Bibby.
Carl Landry and Chuck Hayes aren't centers but they play the position from time to time when Yao isn't in the game. Taylor isn't a PG ok but im sure they are going to use him at the Point position like they did with Luther Head. Aaron Brooks isn't a point guard but he is playing the point. Steve Francis wasn't a point guard but they used him there. do you understand where im coming from?
This isn't a source, this is just some guy musing about possibilities. The Rockets wouldn't mind having a veteran PG, Mike Bibby is a free agent, and he's played for Adelman. He simply connected the builder blocks and tried to come up with an idea, but nothing has really happened in that direction, nor is there any indication the Rockets are actually interested in Bibby. Like I said, this is just some guy writing some random ideas.
No. Head played a handful of minutes at point in his entire career and those handful of minutes came mostly (or exclusively) when we didn't have other options. True, Brooks/Francis are/were combo guards but at least they have/had the handles of a PG. Head has zero attributes of a PG other than his size. Brooks has played PG 99% of his time on the court. Even if he's a shooting guard trapped in a PG's body, they have used him as a PG. The same goes for Francis. Head was almost exclusively used as a one-dimensional SG because he could barely dribble the ball up the court.
Based on your post this is exactly why it wouldn't hurt to have Bibby here. Yeah he may not be the same player he was in the past but he knows the game and the offense. Baring today's game you have to as a G.M consider or think about if a guy goes down who is going to fill in. Brooks goes down then we have Lowry. Who is going to back Lowry up? Taylor?? who is to say he would actually be signed?
Oh yeah - he completely overplays them Starting minutes: Brooks 30 Artest 37 Ming 33 Scola 30 Battier 34 (NOTE: these are the minutes they played in games that they actually STARTED - other games not taken into account). That's 164 minutes from the starters - which ranks Houston 13th in the league. So just ahead of the average number of minutes. It's really a lack of depth which leads to teams playing their starters for heavier minutes - bear in mind that McGrady missed a significant part of last season; throw in Ron and Landry both missing 13 games (or 16% of the season) - surprising we weren't much higher on the list really. Does Adelman play his starters too many minutes? No.
Whats the point if this is basically an off year.Let the kids play and get better and grab a high lottery pick, then bunker down for 2010 imo.
No Bibby please... We have to accept that we may need to rebuild very soon. If this is the case, it is important that Brooks starts. We need his value to raise dramatically. If he can average 20ppg, he will be amazing trade bait. While I love watching the kid play, he is honestly not the PG that will win us a championship. So playing him more will turn him into our most valuable asset. I think Lowry could be our PG of the future if we develop him correctly.
