with guys who draw so much attention as yao or tmac, and how great of passers they are, guys like chandler, kwame brown, swift should be salivating at the prospects of playing here.

Not necessarily. We have learned a hard lesson this past summer how hard it is to land a decent FA without overpaying him. And in sports world,

    "SHOW ME THE MONEY"

    still rules.

yea...but there arent that many teams with a lot of money to spend this year...unlike last year....I refer you to the thread in Dish that had a good breakdown on them for details...

also...dont forget....CBA is up for renewal this offseason....that could affect FA signings bigtime....

I think we go for a FA 4 with full guns blazing this year...and just pick the best player possible in the draft.

McCants is their best player or "superstar" if that's what you need to hear. Altogether they are probably the most talented and athletic team in the country.

As far as them losing to Wake, let's not forget they play for Choker Roy Williams. And, also don't lose sight of how there have been teams with multliple NBA talents before that have choked and ended up not winning anything---Fab Five, those loaded Kentucky teams, etc. It's still early, they're talented and if all players declare, they will end up being 1st round picks for the most part.

Pretty much all the talented 4s we could actually get in the draft have some sort of issue or another:

-Warrick is 6'8" 215 pounds, he's a tweener if there ever was one. He'll likely play like Darius Miles at the 3.

-Boone isn't coming out this year as he is on the 3-year graduation program that his former teammate Okafor did.

-Simien has been an injury waiting to happen since the day he stepped on campus at KU, I highly doubt he'll be able to get healthy consistant at this level. Plus, he's undersized.

The one guy that might be good if we can get him would be Turiaf as he has legit size and clear skills.

    Two things:

Felton is anything but over-rated. He's going to be the purest PG, in that sense, to come out since Stockton. I will be shocked if he isn't top 10. That said, it is unlikely he will come out. If Roy Williams can make Heinrich that good of a player, imagine how much Felton will benefit with the extra year. He understands this and is an extremely good kid (straight edge) - so I don't see him coming out this year.

Marvin Williams, IMO, is not coming out this year. He's not ready -- but when he does come out, yes he will be an easy top 5 pick.

As far as your other UNC rant, I'd answer but that is not Rockets related. Start a thread in the college forum.

Everyone is going Dicky V. in calling Hinrich Heinrich.

Roy did not make Hinrich that good of a player. Hinrich worked hard on his game and become a stud player by himself. Roy has a reputation of developing big men instead of guards. Roy Williams is a control freak and has not allowed his guards any freedom until year 2001 when he gave in to Drew Gooden for exchange of another year in college.

BTW, Hinrich was co-player of the year from Iowa his senior year along with Collison. Collison was #2 rated player coming out of high school according to Gibbons. That should tell you a lot about Hinrich.

Also Hinrich made Jason Williams (the best PG in America, college or pro level ----- Dicky V.) his b**ch when they went head to head in the NCAA tourney his frosh year.

I don't see how you can give zero credit to the coach of these players that develop that way. If you think it was all on your own, your basketball IQ must be on the lower end.

Roy should be given credit for sending any players into the NBA, no question about that. My point is that this guy has a great reputation at developing biggies for the league, not guards. In the case of Kirk, I watched about 80 games he played in college and all Kansas fans knew what kind of player he was since his frosh year. Roy deserves some credit in this case, but not that much.

But we might have PJ as our coach next year. I think that JVG is done after this season.

Phil Jackson does not play young players either neither does Larry Brown who is rumoured to be leaving D-town this upcoming offseason. Be careful for what you wish for.

i wouldnt mind trying to take a chance on darko, but i bet jvg wouldnt want to take that chance so what the hell am i thinking? anyways... we really need to make a strong attempt to acquire swift, he would be absolutely perfect for us. and in the draft we need to draft an atheletic player who can run the floor well and hussle for rebounds that come outside the paint.... warrick would be awesome for us at the 3. mcgrady and the 2 and hopefully have a strong 3 point guard

Can anyone tell me what the Rockets' cap space is like? Do we have a shot at Swift at all? I would looooooooooooooove to see Swift play along side (not dunk on) Yao.

will the memphis grizzlies allow swift to simply sign with us? i don't think they'd want to help out a conference rival....they'll prolly make it hard for us, somehow.......but maybe since we gave away posey to them kind of, they'll cut us some slack;) .....and i dont think hakim warick can be a three since his ball handling isnt that good

I was thinking the same thing. Before we decide who we're going to draft we need to see what FA's are available and which ones we're going to try and sign.

If I had to pick, I'd say we need to draft a 1 before a 4 unless we can unload Mo or Howard. Unfortunately when the draft leaves the lottery it usually comes down to the best player available, which means we'll take the best player availble who is a 1 or 4.

The fact is that if we try to address our needs from the upcoming draft, we will have just as many, if not more problems than this season.

As DD put it, we need to look hard at guys like Swift, maybe a trade for Nene or something. IF we make the playoffs, you're talking about a mid to low pick in the 1st round of a considerably weak draft.

If we are able to pick up a PF through free agency, I would like to see the Rockets pick up some athleticism at the SF or a better backup at SG.
