The obvious choice is Nix. We’ve seen enough to know he needs some time overseas to develop his game. Too many turnovers and he shoots 29% from 3. I think we could have made better use of his 17 min per game. Even Nix and Garuba got playing time at the end of last season, but not TyTy this season? Doesn’t make sense to me.

I am not an insider and have no way to know if KPJ is being a good citizen off the court and in practice. I see lapses of effort and maturity on the court which concern me. If there’s not clear growth in that department we have to move on from KPJ. But I’m not close enough to the org to know what’s what.

Total deja vu. It feels almost exactly the same now as it did back then.

I am aware of his past and our acquisition of him. I also know people do only what they think is right or they think they can get away with. Holding Porter accountable is silly, IMO. It’s like hold a pig accountable for being dirty after letting it out in the pigsty.

    Coach before players.

new coach with new expectations. Porter meets them or he doesn’t. That’s later not now. Got to give Porter the chance to do right before punishments. Is he part of the culture, sure. Is he the only one, no. It’s what the Rockets are for now.

The player we should get rid of is the one that some other team overvalues, and such team has a player you want back who they undervalue :D

AH Yes, the same player in Jaylen Brown who at the same age as Green was averaging more turnovers than assists who scored significantly less on barely better efficiency(54% ts vs 56% ts) with a significantly easier shot profile (30% unassisted rate vs 60% unassisted rate). And at that age no one projecting Brown to be a good defender. And Francis was playing JuCo ball at the same age as Green when he was playing in the NBA. Mobley was in his mid twenties and a finished product also during his run with the Rockets with that backcourt duo.

Yo would have a worse opinion of sophomore Jaylen than sophomore Jalen if they were the same age developing at the same time.

Which is a totally reasonable take. And so much of this depends on what happens this offseason with new acquisitions. If they're serious about bringing Harden on board, they'll get way more out of Harden's $40 million than KPJ's $18 million. Or if it's not Harden, do they add another veteran point guard or draft Scott with a top 3 pick?

But what if they end up with Wemby or another non-PG with that pick, and they struggle to add a quality veteran PG? It's possible that KPJ could still be their best short-term solution at PG after the dust of the offseason has settled. I hope that's not the case, and I'd like to think Stone will address the issue, but I don't want him to overpay for a veteran PG either. Like if I had to pick between another year of KPJ at $18 million with a replacement-level, veteran backup who could start on occasion OR giving like $30 million+ to someone like D'Angelo Russell, I'd take KPJ until they could address it the right way.

Basically, if they're going go go all-in this offseason, I want it to be with the right guys at the right spots at the right price. If that's not the case, I'd rather they keep the rebuild going, add a new coach who can put an offensive system in place that de-emphasizes KPJ as the primary creator and hope they can address it at the trade deadline or in the following offseason.

He’s not a good point guard, but you can’t blame KPJ for the role the team put him in. I’m a fan because he can straight up get buckets, he’s streaky but can create his own and hit tough shots in pressure situations. He’s got the perfect 6th man combo guard makeup… if he accepts that role.

all g, i was just going off what you claimed on that list to be definite keepers, which based on the right trade nobody is definite, even the Lakers would trade Lebron right now for Giannis/Luka, though they wouldn't admit it publicly, privately they would be all in
