You guys have got to be kidding. Tmac for Marbury? Tmac at 50% is better than Marbury. Adding Stephon Marbury to any team is subtraction by addition.

I thought Les is a crazy Mac fans.

Problem is, when TMac is 13-in-35, Les don't wanna trade him. When TMac is "I'm not sure if I play tonight", no team is willing to invest on him.

I vote yes, but I think he'll stay and Morey/RA have to find a way. Maybe uncle Mutombo can have a nice talk with him?

Or I say, make Artest a leader. Artest said he'll go crazy when he's a leader and somebody in his team is lazy. That'll work out.

I would trade anyone on this roster for the right deal. I don't think yao will lead even without tracy. I think if you look at it objectively, is it better to stay in the 2010 sweeps and keep tracy and stay in it this season or is it better to try to get something for him and not be in the 2010? There are some packages or players that the rox could get that could replace his production, but can they replace his impact?

Last yr, I said the only players I can see replacing tracy's impact that maybe was availible was pierce before the kg and allen trades. I think there are a lot of players that can put up tracy's numbers, especially this year, but how many can do what he did the last 2 yrs minus a yao ming. I mean kg never made it higher than a 6,7th seed before cassell and spree. Not only that he was in lotto land the last 2 seasons before being traded to Boston. Allen and pierce were also in lotto land the last 2 yrs. Vince,Jefferson, and kidd were under .500 despite all 3 on the same team in the east.

I think the right deal has to include cap flexibility and talent or just straight talent. Some of the guys people want to trade him for isn't going to happen. Joe Johnson, Rudy F, and guys like that have too many years ahead of them to be traded for tracy. Now if miami wants tracy for marion and the rox do it, the rox are losers on that deal. If they trade for redd, they're loser on that deal also. Jefferson maybe if they gave up another player the rox can use. So its really limited. I would rather the rox bolster the rest of the team with trades and compete now, but keeping their eyes on 2010.

TMac has just vowed to the management that he would play hard. I would say give him 5 more games to fulfill his promise. Otherwise he should be traded and let Ron and Yao co-lead the team. If one leader is better, I would prefer Ron.

    1. If TMac doesn't return to top form- you are going full rebuild mold- expect the lottery.
    2. TMac's value is down.
    3. This is about winning a championship period. And the only chance we have is to have Yao, TMac and Artest healthy and in the playoffs.
    4. If you jetison TMac, you have started the rebuilding process and you better try and get something for Yao while you are at it. Yao cannot lead and carry this team. He is a very important 1/2 of at least a 2 star foundation. Yao must have someone on the outside with the ability of TMac or Paul Pierce or someone of that caliber.
    5. You are trying to get past either the Lakers or the Celtics. Good luck without TMac.
    6. Face facts, the Rockets don't have a healthy and a motivated TMac and that pretty well screws the chance of winning the Championship this year. Best scenario is for TMac to come on strong by March and Yao and Artest go with him to battle healthy in the playoffs.
    7. Last year there might have been an opportunity to steal Wade from Miami for TMac or Hamilton and Billups away from Detroit. But without that kind of returns we are just stepping back further in the pecking order.
    8. We are in a catch 22- if TMac gets healthy we have a fighting chance at winning this year. But if he doesn't we won't. If TMac is traded where he is at right now we don't get value for him and we pretty much go lottery for next season, there are too many teams ahead of us without TMac. The only way I would trade TMac now is if we traded Yao also and started the whole thing over.

if he does bad why would a team give a first round pick for ihm?

this isnt a wait and see.

you wait he does bad other teams dont want that
you wait he does good then good thing you waited

you wait and he does bad and its a gamble you lost, a 23 mil gamble

TMac is the perfect housing bubble analogy. You paid too much because of the hype. Now you're stuck with it and can't move it in this market. You might need to just sell at a huge loss just to get rid of it.

Isn't it funny how TSlack needs management to tell him to play hard?? Do you think management has ever told winners such as Duncan, KG, Kobe, or DWade to play hard? Those guys have rings as a result of years of playing hard. TSlack is an overpaid lazy loser who likes the limelight when he scores. It is a shame that a hard worker like Yao ever hooked up with him because Yao has basically wasted his peak years.

This team won't win a Championship with McGrady. It doesn't matter how much talent your team has if your best player is mentally weak and uninterested in competing. I would rather trade him for a couple of quality rotation players and see what happens in May but if all this team can do is trade him for an expiring contract then that will have to suffice.

McGrady loves to be the main guy on bad teams. There is no pressure so he can relax and just play his game. Look at his days in Orlando or his play when Yao is out (and playoffs expectations become zero) or in the Dallas series when the Rockets were huge underdogs or in game 6 of last year's Jazz series when everyone knew the Rockets were already done.

The minute you put him in a situation where there are real expectations of him he either quits or cries. No way a team can win it all with that type of player leading the way.

Let's make McGrady happy and send him some place where he can put up his All Star numbers and not be pressured with playoff expectations.

Tmac for Marbury? Not without plenty of 1st round picks thrown in. And even then, it wouldn't happen.

I'm gonna get flamed for this (if anyone even reads the post), but no worse than DD.

Now, say, Tslack (I like this nickname, props) to Cleveland for the expiring contracts of Wally and Snow, + a few first round picks....but only if there is a third team involved; "keep" Snow so his expiring money can be put to good use (re-sign Artest) and flip Sczerbiak and the draft picks and/or Luther and/or Hayes to a team looking to deal.

    Chicago: Hinrich/Sefalosha?
    Milwaukee: Redd?
    Etc.

Otherwise, stand pat and put up with TSlack's "injuries" until the summer of 2010 when we don't get to sign anyone.

Consider, yes. But I wouldn't get too anxious to pull the trigger on any trade.

I personally have written him off as being a franchise player for us - you can't depend on a star/primary option that waffles as badly as Gooden or Vilaneuva. You need to be able to count on your main guy bringing it at least 4 games out of 5. In a quarter of his games this year, Tracy been a single-digit dud. And I don't want to hear about his "injury." He's out of shape and didn't strengthen his knee. Both things completely within his control. I'm sure he'll improve, but that probably won't change his ingrained habit of coasting on both ends of the court.

I continue to push that we have two choices:
-marginalize his role and allow him to become a "bonus" X-factor player. It's a grand waste of $20M, it calls for a massive and improbable ego check, but it would fit what he gives us. No need to waste possessions as he shoots 2-11 or 6-17. No need to play him 30 minutes when he dogs it during 15 to 20 of them. If it's a night where he's "feeling right" let him ride it. But for the other 70 games in the regular season, establish an identity with the 7 rotation players that do come to play every night. You need a game plan that you use night in and night out. Not one that you have to scrap and rewrite constantly to deal with a former star that endlessly yo-yos in and out of the lineup.

-If McGrady can't or won't accept a reduced role (echoes of Francis under JVG), lose him for ten cents on the dollar. Knicks, Bulls, and Heat are all plausible. I suspect McGrady would sabotage a trade to Sacramento.

I pretty much agree with this sentiment. The time to trade Tracy has passed, unless some GM drinks a gallon of stupid and feels Tracy is worth the risk of giving up an impact player in return. At this point, it's all or nothing. Let's see what these guys can do in the playoffs, and go from there.

I have no problem moving TMac. Just not for garbage like Salmons, Miller, or Marbury. He comes off the books in 2010, so I take that into consideration. None of the guys those guys suggested help us win or make us better.

If you could get a guy like Fernandez, then of course you do it. The real problem is I think Portland would laugh in our faces. We might as well keep him if we can't get a good young player or someone who improves our team. Marbury is simply a salary dump a year earlier (he wouldn't play a second here and we wouldn't even consider him). I guess I don't see anyone giving us anything of value for TMac. There's a reason that their is little interest in Salmons and Miller around the league. Salmons is a bench player having a career year. Miller is ok, but doesn't fill a need.

Who would want him right now? Do you sell your house in an all time depressed market if you don't have to?

I disagree. There are two ways that a NBA team can increase gate receipts. They can either be a contender, or they can have a big name that will draw fans. For instance, the Milwaukee Buck will probably not make it to the playoffs. However, they can still generate revenue by having someone like Tracy on the team. The T-Mac name is still marketable. Plus the fact that other teams will want to use Tracy’s expiring contact too. I think the Rockets could get two very good players for T-Mac. Not all-stars, but two very good players.
