I really thought this kid was gonna be so much better than what he has shown. He is still young and has skills. Maybe one day he will learn to shoot as good as Rafer Alston.

His jump shot form looks so different compared to good shooters, especially from spot ups. But I'm sure he had people help him work on it over the years, and it clearly hasn't worked out.

Man, people really need to watch Rubio play more. He's such a fun player to watch and dissect.

Rubio's problem in a Rockets system isn't that he can't shoot. He can probably make enough 3s to work, given how many wide open catch and shoot opportunities he can get in this offense. Rubio's only problem is that he can't attack the basket cause he won't shoot/make layups. However, this issue is mitigated by the fact that the Rockets generally have Harden and Parsons do this, and Howard posting up.

For all the comparisons to Lin here, he's actually a much superior version of Beverley. Imagine Beverley taller, with more steals, better defense, slightly worse shot, and being a godly passer. That's Rubio.

I think Rubio will be just fine on the Rockets. We're so desperate for defense and he provide that very well. Of course, Minnesota will never trade him for anything Morey's willing to offer, so it's all moot. But in a vacuum, I like Rubio warts and all.

Yes, Rubio is 23 years-old, but that is somewhat misleading. He's been playing professional basketball for 8-9 years. He was a rotation player in the 2008 Olympics. I'm not saying he can't become closer to an average shooter, but the idea that a flip will switch in the offseason is a pipe-dream. He's closer to a finished product than many realize.

Comparing him to Jason Kidd is stale. I'm tired of hearing it. Kidd brought a presence and leadership on the court that pushed teammates to their limits and intimidated opponents. Rubio has none of that and won't magically develop it. Teammates did what Jason Kidd told them to do, even hard heads like Kenyon Martin.

When the T-Wolves didn't give Kevin Love the full 6-year max contract because they expected Rubio to become a superstar, many of us here said that was pure stupidity. Kahn strikes again!

Can't defend, can't shoot the ball, zero on court leadership, gets his assists with fancy passes early but is completely useless when it really counts....he's a bust.

Where in the world did you get the idea that he couldn't defend? He's a very good defender.

I actually think Jeremy Lin is a more well-rounded player than Rubio. I don't even know what you think Rubio would do on this team. He can't shoot, he can't go inside at all and Harden likes to be the primary ball-handler.

Stop saying Rubio can't defend, where do you get this from, he's one of the best defenders at the PG position. He would do wonders for this team since he actually plays PG, he would actually be able to get Dwight involved, something no one in this organization is capable of doing. Rubio's bball IQ and court vision is right there on CP3's level.
And I used to be a major Rubio hater, but having watched him for so long, his talent is undeniable.

Rubio and Lin both have warts, but I prefer Lin. Neither of them should be starters. And Minny will want too much for him, so it's a moot point.

If they catch us on a good day, we might give them a 2nd rounder for him....

He's European and he smiles so he's not allowed to be a good defender.

But I completely agree with your post. The inability to finish anywhere on the floor seriously hampers him but he has a basketball IQ that is very rare. It is useful on both sides of the floor. He's really good at getting the ball to his teammates in spots for them to succeed.

I would still definitely try and trade for him. He's still only 23 years old.

Rubio's problem is he is such a flawed player.

His defense is fantastic but his shooting is such a huge flaw that is can and will be exploited.

Rubio is overrated and is in fact terrible. He is flashy with his assists but that's about it. Do not want.
