First of all, Ward isn't just some Tampa Bay castoff. He was a 1,000 yard rusher in 2008 with the Giants. Second, if Foster is just a product of Kubiak's magical (magnets-how-do-they-work?) offense, how do you explain Steve Slaton sucking so hard last year? How do you explain his offense being 30th in the league in rushing last year? The scheme hasn't changed....only the RB. Hmmm....
I beat you to it lol Also, where do people get the idea that Kubiak is the only coach who runs a zone?
I guess that when McNair identified the defense as a problem, he failed to take into account who was responsible for putting the defensive staff in place. So Kubiak has hired two DC's, both have failed, and Uncle Bob trusts Kubiak to make the choice again? WTF is wrong with you?
Never said anybody should be happy with anything. Just saying that McNairs excuse of coaching changes setting back teams does have some validity. I believe Kubiak should be fired, but all the changes that would have to be made would set the team back next year. I guess you forgot to the good-great 1,000 yard rushers Denver had in the ZBS: Mike Anderson – 1487 in 2000 and 1,014 in 2005 Tatum Bell – 1,025 in 2006 Olandis Gary – 1,159 in 1999 Rueben Droughns – 1,240 in 2004 These players looked great in a 1 cut scheme, but get them out of it and they are mediocre!! Not saying Foster would fall into this category, but there is a chance!
The scheme most definitely has changed... as it has improved with another year of cohesiveness. They were NOT opening up these holes last year for Slaton. That being said, its not all the system. Foster is the perfect 1-cut back for this scheme, and he makes the most of it. Its a perfect fit. And Ward was a TB castoff. He was good for NY in 2008, but got fat and out of shape. He's come a long ways back, but he still isn't some elite RB that everybody was vying over... but he put up some pretty damn good #'s behind this line. All that being said, a new coach could keep this system intact with the help of Dennison... Kubiak isn't the only one who can do it. But, to criticize him for "not using Foster more", when he had just a big of a role as anybody in creating the beast that is Foster is a little hypocritical.
Awesome...even if it came from elsewhere, consider yourself rep'd. Can someone please explain to me what it is that Rick Smith does? Kubiak gets to hire the next DC? Why would any right-minded owner give this head coach that power at this point?
tatum Bell Mike Anderson, was predominantly a fullback and stepped up in the role of a running back when they asked him to. Tatum bell ran for just over 1,000, a pretty common occurance for any running back, he was nothing special that season. Olandis Gary suffered a severe knee injury after a stellar rookie season and never recovered. Rueben Droughns had a 1200 yard season in Cleveland the year after his one in Denver You also forget to mention guys like Terrell Davis and Clinton Portis who were clearly special. It looks like Foster is more in the mold of those guys.
