Palin can't bring her son out one day when it benefits her politically and then turn around a few weeks later and tell people that they can't talk about him. She is the one who brought Trig into the conversation.

 

if palin is so concerned about her family's privacy maybe she shouldn't go around accepting 100k for magazine covers photos and allowing her daughter to be interviewed about being a 'born-again virgin'.

The reason i give Thumbs such a hard time is because when it was reported that palin's daughter was pregnant, he made a big deal about it being a big deal. i asked him about what republican normally has to say about unwed teenage mothers in the ghetto. he made some comment about them usually being on welfare.

i remember a daily show bit where they showed a clip of bill o'reilly calling brittany spear's mother a 'pinhead' when the younger sister gets pregnant and another clip of him telling everyone that bristol palin's pregnancy is a private, family matter that he wont discuss.

 

OK, but you were talking about Americans, not the USSR or Nazi Germany. There are no viable political voices on either the left or the right that are advocating for government to control every aspect of American's lives. You said that the far left and far right want government to control our lives, but if you are talking about the 0.5% of Americans that are Communists or the 0.5% (I was being generous with both percentages, I don't think the actual numbers are that high) of American Nazis, then you are basing your opinions on a tiny sliver of the population.

I didn't hear a lot about how Obama didn't know about the sermons, I heard about how little it really mattered. Either way, this is kind of a tiny little point to throw out there as a fabrication that somehow matches the continual narrative that Fox presents.

Again, I haven't heard them saying that it isn't a gateway, I have heard them saying that what is in the healthcare bill is not single payer, is not socialized medicine in any way shape or form.

Omitting the good things about your opponents isn't lying, but telling lies and distorting facts to make your opponents look bad is. That is the difference between Fox and MSNBC. Fox is willing to distort the truth in unbelieveable ways, MSNBC presents their side in the best possible light, but I don't hear about them lying like Fox does. This is what happens when you read your news, you see that stories about Fox lying outnumber those of MSNBC lying hands down.

...Fox told you so. They are the only ones out there who make this claim. They have to in order to get their viewers to refuse to tune in to reality based news. If they lump the competing networks in with the "evil libruhls," their sheep (I'm not calling you a sheep, merely pointing out that you are acting like one) won't go anywhere else.

Now you are engaging in message creep. Earlier, you say that MSNBC lied about Obama not knowing about Rev. Wright and his more provocative ideas, now you are actually saying that Obama shares these beliefs? Who touched you and gave you the gift of clairvoyance? ESP is the only way that anyone could know, but Fox has said it over and over again so many times that some people will simply believe it without question. For someone who says they aren't a sheep, you certainly have some beliefs that belie that claim.

Obama has said that he thinks that single payer (not "Social[ized] Medicine") would be the best system if we could build from scratch, which he said in the same paragraph was not the case with the United States. Once again, you show that you have bought the Fox line pretty much verbatim.

I haven't heard a peep about Gore from the media since after Inconvenient Truth and the subsequent Nobel, save Fox running stories to try and discredit him.

If you don't know how using the word "Hitler" renders subsequent meaningful discussion impossible, then I don't know what to say.

However, on this particular point, Hitler used propaganda to get people to look the other way while a small number of his supporters committed atrocities. The general populace of Germany didn't know what was going on at Auchwitz any more than Fox News viewers know about the actual provisions in the healthcare bill.

No, a single payer system is still not "Social[ized] Medicine," because in a single payer system, the hospitals, clinics, doctors, nurses, labs, and other health care facilities are privately owned and operated. I wouldn't call this anywhere even close to government control of the economy, it isn't even government control of the health care sector.

However, because of the propaganda that Fox News put out, people were screaming about socialism, communism, and even fascism at those town hall meetings. Fox didn't want reasonable discussion, they wanted screaming matches and they got them. This part of our political process needs to change. You can help change it by soothing the tempers of the people on your side, encouraging them to stop watching the propaganda, and helping them to engage in reasoned debate.

Ummmmmm, you are really stretching here. Faux has been on-air putting forth claims that Obama is a communist, wasn't born in the USA, the healthcare plan is socialist, that Obama himself is a racist, and that "liberals" want to destroy the American way of life.

I didn't bring it up in the last post, but there were several reports that there were multiple people at the Phoenix rally with guns and only one of them was black. MSNBC certainly didn't do themselves any good by showing a shot of the AR-15 that happened to be carried by the black guy while talking about armed white men, but again, you are bringing up one instance against the entire 24 hour per day, 7 day per week narrative put out by Faux, the entirety of which is at best a distortion of the truth. You might be able to make the case that Fox is a news channel for 4-5 hours per day, during their "hard news" programming times, but the rest of it is a right wing jerk off of epic proportions.

In case you hadn't noticed, I am not defending MSNBC as arbiters of the truth. Their programming is distorted by left wing bias just as Fox is distorted by a right wing bias. As I said earlier, they are both steaming piles of crap. I don't watch either channel and as such, I feel like I am a fairly unbiased observer of the two networks (observing from a distance, not actually subjecting myself to their crap piles).

This observer, while still maintaining that both are crap, sees Fox as the more dishonest of the two. I will use their tag line against them by saying that Fox claiming to be "Fair and Balanced" is like if you saw Joel Olsteen claiming to be a secular champion. You can say it all you want, but that just doesn't make it true.

My freaking political science teacher is such an idiot. She sits in the front of the class and constantly tries to claim "Obama will be replaced in 2012!" Then she gives ridiculous examples of how Sarah Palin is on the rise. She supports this by claiming "millions of people show up to Palin rallies!"
