I didn't see the movie you were referencing, but he was a total bad-ass in Guys and Dolls. Not an easy task to outshine Sinatra, and he did it in Spades.

I think every guy should watch that movie at least once.

Oh yeah! How could I forget about that one? I actually remembered thinking that this Heath Ledger kid may be one to watch after seeing that. Well it sure seems like he was breaking through... it's a shame.

A great flick! They don't make them like that any longer, which is a pity. Musicals are pretty much a dying breed. It's rare to see a good one these days. Heck, one has to wonder if the talent is even available to put them on. One of my favorite films from the "older Brando" days? Last Tango in Paris. Brando is terrific, as is the film. After watching it, you'll never look at a stick of butter the same way. ;)

    From Wikipedia:

Schneider performed numerous full-frontal nude scenes in Last Tango in Paris, which were controversial at the time. In 2007, in an interview with the Daily Mail, Schneider described Last Tango in Paris director Bernardo Bertolucci as "fat and sweaty and very manipulative, both of Marlon and myself, and [he did] certain things to get [her reaction]." As for her working relationship with Brando, she says that, while their relationship on the set was paternal, it was Brando who came up with the 'butter scene' and it was only known to her before filming it:

"I should have called my agent or had my lawyer come to the set because you can't force someone to do something that isn't in the script, but at the time, I didn't know that. Marlon said to me: 'Maria, don't worry, it's just a movie,' but during the scene, even though what Marlon was doing wasn't real, I was crying real tears. I felt humiliated and to be honest, I felt a little raped, both by Marlon and by Bertolucci. After the scene, Marlon didn't console me or apologise. Thankfully, there was just one take."

She and Brando remained friends until his death, although they did not speak of the movie "for a while".

She also says that her experience with the film — and her treatment as a sex symbol rather than as a serious actress — motivated her to never do films with nude scenes again.

She has also appeared in films such as The Passenger, Just a Gigolo, and Jane Eyre.

An awesome clip from the film. Definitely not safe for work! (as in NSFW!!!)

    <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/nFsFMlgLFsQ&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/nFsFMlgLFsQ&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

My understanding is that he is used real stories from when he was growing up for the scene. Trippy.

Definitely, although I'd argue that Jimi would have continued to be seen as GREAT until he died of old age. He was continuing to grow as an artist, going in new directions, when he left us. A better example of a "rock icon" who has a greater reputation today than he might have had, had he lived, is Jim Morrison. While he was great in concert (yes, I saw the Doors when they played Houston... saw Jimi multiple times), Morrison was on his way down at the time of his death. By going so young, his legend maintained an aura that still continues. That's something that, in my opinion, would have diminished over time.

    1. I don't think she was a legend by any means, but I think she was in some very memorable roles at the time and had very tragic death (murdered by her father) at 10 years old.

    2. Suprised no one has mentioned this one, very big media story around it that might've been bigger than the OJ trail (which is often dubbed the trial of the century, I disagree, because of this one) ...
