So far, my Friday is looking like... Theophilus London Delta Spirit Ray Lamontagne (for the wife, of course) Somewhere in between North Mississippi Allstars, Gary Clark Jr, and Nas & Damian Marley Mavis Staples then the kids will likely be done and we'll be heading home because Coldplay and Kanye West suck. I'm listening to J.Roddy Walston & the Business right now...I will definitely be seeing these guys on Saturday
ya my sister got hosed last year buying fakes on craigslist... apparently the same guy sold something like 50 or 60 fake 3-day passes. i'd definitely be careful gonig that route, and if you do have them meet you where you can check their validity.
my officemate is friends with rod. i'm hoping to meet them thursday night in austin. friday: haha tonka food delta spirit smith westerns big boi bright eyes then gary clark that night at antoines. anyone have any extra head and heart tix for saturday night?
and coincidentally enough a friend of mine in austin is real good friends w gary clark... caught him during sxsw. he's damn good.
awesome! seriously, if anyone hears of head and the heart tix for saturday night, pretty please let me know. finder's fee of some sort.
I was just looking at that. It might just be downright tolerable. I don't particularly want the rain until Monday, but the cloud cover would be nice.
It might have been discussed earlier but why are kanye and coldplay scheduled to play at the same time.
If you want to get close, Shady Grove has parking for $25. There's also the softball fields on Twomey for $10, but they're very difficult to get out of at night. Other than that, nothing much in the area. To answer your other post, they always have 2 headliners on Fri & Saturday to keep the crowd split up and not creating a massive clusterf*** heading towards one stage (like it is on Sunday night). With one ending before the other, it makes it slightly easier to get out of the park, too.
You guys going out today, don't sleep on Beardyman. This could be the hidden gem of the weekend. Beat Box extraordinaire.
So my friend in Austin won some passes for Sunday, so I'll be driving up to join him. I hadn't really looked at the lineup for this year, but now that I'm going, I took a good look... and boy, does it suck! Don't get me wrong, I'm happy to be going for free and am looking forward to seeing Arcade Fire, but overall, the festival lineup is pretty poor. I recall looking at the lineups over the last decade and wishing at the time that I could justify dropping the cash to go to ACL. For the last few years, however, the lineups have been less than impressive, and this year, it almost looks as bad as Bonnaroo or any other similar Middle-America rock festival. All the big names are mostly mainstream artists or indie acts that have been around for awhile and are well past their peak. Where's all the new and cutting edge artists? Our Free Press Summerfest this year had a much more forward-looking/progressive collection of artists. Who would have thunk? /rant
