Was planning to go for the longest, but I had too much trouble finding a ticket and I think I'd rather do Fun Fun Fun Fest.

Entered for the Arcade Fire ACL Taping though on that Saturday. If I won I might try to do that and the DFA1979 aftershow. That'd knock out two of my biggest priorities. And I'll be seeing Kanye and Jay-Z at the Toyota Center to make up for missing him. So I don't feel so bad about missing this, besides My Morning Jacket (Why couldnt they come by Houston?)

Does kinda suck that not many ACL artists are playing Houston shows that weekend though. Last year I had so many options- LCD Soundsystem, The National, Vampire Weekend, Gaslight Anthem, Two Door Cinema Club, Edward Sharpe, among others.....this year its just Chromeo and Foster the People from what I can see. I want a My Morning Jacket or DFA1979 or Cut Copy or Fleet Foxes show :(

Likely has to do with a rule that C3 has in place. I believe it's 6 months and 150 miles...in other words, a band can't play ACL within 150 miles (covers both Houston and Dallas) within 6 months of the festival before and after.

that doesn't seem true at all... there are already several ACL bands playing in houston next week that i know of (foster the people and j. roddy come to mind) and cold war kids are playing in san marcos (!) next wednesday.

no band would ever accept a rule like that, btw.

my officemate's friend in austin is saying they've banned smoking this year. i've wondered about that, but how is that enforceable?

i heard that on the radio this afternoon - pure idiocy - but it will make all the ninnies feel safer. the radiohost pointed out that the fields at zilker are green as they have been watered all summer.

the irony is that it will be easier to smoke weed than cigarettes!

i read an article and it seemed like since smoking is currently banned in city parks and zilker is a city park, acl isn't immune to that ban. they'll just ask you to put it out.

Smoking, BBQing, etc, has been banned in all parks, greenbelts & other such public places throughout the city limits, if not all of Travis County.

I was at Zilker this weekend (met the futants in person). There were signs everywhere about it. I'm not sure how they'll enforce it.

I disagree with jo mama. Without the cigarette smoke, won't it be more obvious what it is?

good point - but its easier to be discreet w/ a 1-hitter than it is w/ a cig. but as others have said, i dont think they will be able to enforce the no cigs rule unless they really beef up security - there is no way you can expect smokers to not smoke at a music festival for 10-12 hours. and there is no way you can expect mar1juana smokers not to smoke mar1juana at a music festival either...ITS JUST PLAIN OL' WRONG!!!

personally, i find the porta-pottie to be the best spot to sneak a few puffs. and the best part is that you dont have some weekend warrior who cant handle their smoke trying to brah up on your stash.
