Those of us who can afford HDTV can also afford Hummer limos that sit parked all evening right out front. What a cheap ass loser you are.

the idiots at the city made parking impossible

1, they moved the bus stop to republic square which is NOWHERE close to state parking.

    2. there was lots of pay parking and it says "NO ACL parking during the day" ( i went on friday). so i had to find some $10 parking on congress.

    3. the line management was horrendous. a bunch of stupid kids cutting left and right.

Us HDTVers deserve our own private parking spots since we are smarter than you and help move the world forward.

i rode my bike all 3 days. from my house right up to the gate. and i dont own an hdtv or whatever the heck its called.

i dont get why they moved parking though - theres 10 times more parking spaces north of the capitol and from where the bus pick-up was you were better off walking to the fest anyway.

Yea, the moving of the bus stop was stupid. Took me a while to find some parking, and when I did it was a little illegal.

I didnt have any problems with the line when I showed up around noon on most of the days. On the way back from the ACL, I left early so missed any line which may have built up. I learned my lessons from last year.

Why dont they have any trees in Zilker Park? Shade is a good thing.

Best Show: Explosions in the Sky
Most Disappointing: Matisyahu, not that he was terrible, just nowhere near as good as I've seen him in the past

I heard alot of good things about Ghostland Observatory as well. I'm pissed I didn't see them since instead I watched the steaming pile of crap that was I Love You But I've Chosen Darkness.

    Soccer.

We had a blast. Didn't go Sunday to let the kids rest but was sorry to miss that lineup. Only heard a fraction of the groups we planned on...liked what we heard of the Raconteurs, but our kids had showed awesome flexibility and patience until there... the 3-year old couldn't stand them so we moved on (he had mentioned how much he liked Aimee Mann on the way over :) ). Similarly, we only heard 1 VM song before leaving for the night.

My wife and son had their pictures taken by Life Magazine in the Kiddie tent...so we'll see.

In our second ACL, and found surprisingly excellent parking on Saturday for small-HDTV owners. I ain't telling though. ;)

I can honestly say that I did not miss any of those bands.

Went all 3 days. I paid a bit more to park at Shady Grove, but it was worth it. I didn't have a problem with the lines except to get beer before Petty on the right side. It was absolute madness overthere after Matisyahu.

    Best shows:
    1. Flaming Lips - never seen them before and it was an incredible expierence
    2. Matisyahu - same as above...I am a little biased also being jewish...it was a religious expierence for me.
    3. Petty before the rain - a legend...
    4. Damien Marley - I was suprised at how good he was
    5. Brett Dennan - just kind of happened on this one when we got there on Sunday...this kid is very talented

Also liked: Black Angels, Ted Leo & The Pharmacists, The Greyhounds, Cat Power, Thievery Corp., Ray lamontagne, Centro-Matic, Galactic, Calexico, Willy

    Worst:
    1. Gnarls Barkley - Do they do anything original? It was nearly all covers and not very well done at that.
    2. Ghostland Observatory - this is just from walking between stages...do you people seriously ilke this crap? They're terrible
    2. Van Morrison - this was very disappointing. We left when the country crap started. There's a reason his new album got slammed by the critics.
    3. Petty after the rain - the sound went to crap...seemed to lose energy (or maybe that was just me)

All in all, I had a blast...again. This was much better than last year. My biggest problem was that some people seem to have no problem stepping on your blankets or on you with muddy shoes or bare feet. Suprising to me that there were no fights setting up for the more crowded shows. There is always a path to your goal...it just isn't in my f***ing lap...or on my foot...or on my hand...or on my chair...or on my backpack.

He threw off his jacket and hat early on the set. Then he jumped into the middle area of the crowd, and ran up and down.

Matisyahu actually performs with some Muslim beatboxers in his live shows as the opening act.

I think Matisyahu can bring peace to the Mid-East.

Actually I've never been happier to get on a bus. Getting out of that 100 degree heat into the air conditioned bus was pure heaven.

How much was Shady Grove? Did you have to get there early to get a spot?

The bus itself was nice, but that d*mn maze they put us in was friggin ridiculous. If there's no line...open up the gates, you dolts.

I thought the line management was as good as it could get for 75,000+ people.

The best move I made was waking up at 9am to park my car behind PTerry's, it made getting home such a breeze.

Best Show: The Flaming Lips...we got about 15 feet from the front row and the show was just amazing.

Here's what's ticking me off this week.

I got to ACL, and I buy a DELICIOUS Salt Lick 360 pork sandwich for $5 and a large Sweat Leaf Tea for $4

    total=$9

I go to the horns game at Reliant, I get a hotdog $6.50 and a coke for 5.50

    total=$12

i forgot what the name of the place was but i saw ARAMARK symbol, so i know its cafeteria food quality. I felt like I got ripped off big time.

It was $20. Considering we typically park at the church @ 2244 & Mopac, the shorter, flater walk made it worth the extra $5. We got there around 11:15, but only because we wanted to get there for some of the early shows. There were still plenty of spaces available...

Thanks. We parked at Austin High. They have multiple lots; you go to the farthest which is just about under MOPAC (by the tennis courts). Then you cross the pedestrian bridge under MOPAC. $15. A little farther walk than Shady Grove, but prob more parking for late arrivals (like us). Also, I noticed that when we left around dusk on Saturday they were no longer collecting $, so later arrivals could just hunt down a free spot.

another lot that nobody seems to know about is the one right south of the goodwill building on 5th - between the building and the r.r. tracks is a dirt parking lot. i rode my bike all 3 days, but my roommate parked there everyday and had no problems.
