Let this be a lesson for everyone.......just cause you have the stamina to wake up one day after 10 years of not running and decide to run 5 miles doesnt mean you shouldnt stretch before and afterwards. Oh, and using crappy shoes isnt a good idea, either. Apparently I sprained my achilles. Anyone else do this? Apparently its going to hurt for awhile.
Been there...Faculty/student basketball game...felt it give a little as I warmed up the days before, and in the game, made it through the 3rd quarter before taking a break and the ankle cooling off...not good. Out for at least a month hobbling around. Good luck healing.
Generally if you haven't run in 10 years, you will have a hard time even getting past mile 1 or 2. The body has a fail safe mechanism built in to prevent injuries like this. How were you able to run 5 miles? Do you do regular cardio workout like on a bicycle or something at the gym?
Just pulled my calf about a month ago. I wasn't stretching before or after running. Then I played basketball and pulled it. I was limping for a week. I rested another 2 weeks before running again/
Plus he's wired to push himself to the limit and hurt himself. Locke...by definition...lacks the self-preservation gene.
