Microfracture surgery would be career ending for mcgrady. Plain and simple.

If his contract is insured they need to delay his surgery until the off-season to lessen his chances of playing 10 games in the 2010/11 season for another team.

Disabled player exception. That's $20 million off the books in free agency this year.

If he has the surgery now, he would probably just now start returning to bball activities a year from now. Meaning itll be atleast another 2 or 3 months from the all star break next year where he can return to the court and he obviously wont be the same player. His career as a rocket wold be over if he decides to have surgery.

Look, at the end of the day, Tmac should do whatever is best for HIMSELF.....and not give a hoot for anyone else, including the Rockets.

It is his career, his body, and it is a risk the Rockets took by signing him to a guaranteed contract.

I do hope he does whatever is best for himself, and honestly the team is better off without him right now.

And here I thought his career was already on a downward spiral....

Better off without one legged mcgrady, maybe, but unless we pull off some ridiculous trade, we have to start preparing for another disapointing post season.

Nope, I think they were a contender last year, until Yao went down, as they get more healthy, without all the drama of Tmac they are better THIS year.

They can compete......they just need Artest in there every day, and Wafer too.

If he needs the surgery, his career is over. Everything else would be irrelevant at that point.

Why would you say that? Microfracture has a 75-80% success rate, and if Tmac needs it....the chances are that it is a very small area that he needs it done on...

It is a very small procedure, done on an outpatient basis...and he is still only 29 years old.

His Rocket's career would probably be over, but he could still play going forward after all the rehab.

Darius Miles is playing again, Amare, Jason Kidd, tons of players have had it and it worked.

If Tmac needs it, or has a small patch of bone on bone...then he should get it done immediatly...

The question is ...IF he needs it.....and it sounds like there are at least 3 doctors who say he doesn't but maybe others that say he does....so.....gonna have to wait and see.

In the meantime, bench him.....for the good of the other 14 players.

It took 4 years to find out he needed surgery on his knee?!?! I have been saying it all along. The Rockets team doctors suck.

No wonder our players are always injured, if they are playing on undiagnosed injuries.

Fire the doctors and keep the the one that discovered the problem.

Well, let me ask you this, before the start of the year, assuming mcgrady could get back to being himself, did you have higher expectations for the team than you do now? We were a contender last year due in large part to the play of mcgrady. Artest was supposed to be a guy that could be our 6th man. Now youre asking him to be a playmaker and a 20 ppg scorer. I'm not convinced anyone can do that on our roster besides last years mcgrady.

DD, yeah players come back from microfracture surgery. The players usually never return to their peak effectiveness. I can't count more than a handful of players that have been great, since the surgery.

Dump T Mac during the off season.

Have the entire medical staff re evaluated by people outside the organization.

Don't hold out hopes for a 2010 free agent miracle.

Find a point guard upgrade at all cost.

Great! Since TMac doesn't believe in rehab, we can have him back at the beginning of next season!

How does he go from having his knee scoped for loose particles and doctors saying everything structurally is fine to potentially needing microfracture surgery? Somebody is incompetent.

Yeh, something is very strange about this whole thing. The doctors lost control of the situation. People are going to naturally blame mcgrady, but the doctors are the ones who dropped the ball. Theyre highly paid professionals as well, and Mcgrady is a huge investment for the rockets. Theyre partly responsible for his physical health. If its true that he's done for the year and its due to something other than something that happened on the court, someone has to go...This is strangely similar to what happened with yao last year.
It doesnt happen to any other star player in this league.
