That's true but his sister was really really good! On Reggie, He's actually a good announcer and very good in studio. Just has to stop comparing everyone and overstating things. Give him a chance, this is his 1st year and he's doing well. Heck he'd be the #1 analyst on ESPN right now.
however, what was her record for sandwich making? this must be addressed to gain a deeper perspective
NIKE - IMHO, that's not what Miller meant. I believe he intended to mean that Luther Head did have much knowledge of Ray Allen's nuances for getting open. I've never played a minute of NBA ball and I know Ray Allen is a good shooter. I enjoy Reggie and Doug Collins a helluva lot more than Tolbert, Sean Elliott, and Kerr.
Reggie just cannot bring himself to admit that he cannot make those difficult shot Tmac does all the time. He could only run like a rat hoping the multiple screens would get him a clean look and then kick out his legs begging refs to send him to FT line. BTW, he sucks as a TV commentator.
Miller was trying to put the blame on T-Mac by saying instead of recognizing the the shooter and pointing him out to the closest defender, T-mac should have went across-court to try to defend a "wide open" Ray Allen and contest the shot. If you saw the sequence of events it would have been impossible for T-Mac to have gotten over there in time, he did exactly what he could/should have done.
That's kind of funny really, because Clyde Drexler was a better player than Reggie Miller. So we're talking about a team anchored by a guard/forward who is better than Reggie Miller and a center that is better than Rik Smits. Reggie Miller and Rik Smits took the Pacers pretty far more than a couple times, so I can handle that.
That always made my blood boil as well. Sometimes I'd wish .... erm.... unpleasant injuries on Miller. When in rome they say.
Relative to his time, TMac is better. TMac has led the league in scoring and is a pretty easy call for 1st team all-NBA, while Glide always had SOMEBODY a notch above. I wouldn't consider it a diss to say TMac is a step behind Jordan... nobody can be Jordan until they lead their team to 6 championships. As for the Smits comments -- Reggie probably still sees Smits now and then, and I bet Reggie was trying to avoid a flying Dutch roundhouse kick to his tiny pin head. At least he admitted that Yao has better numbers.
I think the NBA should set like an official superstar bar. Anything less than 10 straight championships and your not a superstar. 5 championships or less, you could be a role player. I know I know, I am the greatest poster alive.
I like mcgrady as much as the next guy, but I don't think mcgrady will be considered better than drexler until he does something in the playoffs. Drexler went to the finals three times and was considered MJ's equal until MJ embarassed him in the finals.
Reggie also kept making comments about everybody "settling for the outside jumper instead of taking it inside". What a crock from the biggest long distance bomber of all time, who wouldn't take it to the hole if Chris Dudley was standing there. Kinda like listening to my Grandma, who was divorced eight different times, give me advice on how to keep my marriage together.
Smits would average 10 and 4 in today's game and Yao would average 25 and 12 in the "illegal defense" era.
According to Ludacris: Cheryl Miller has got stank breath. Proof is in the players' reactions during interviews.
I always got the feeling that Reggie was kind of a YOF. Aside from that comparison to Rik Smits, he's always saying stuff like get the ball to Yao or you got to establish Yao in the paint, etc, etc.. And as far as being a commentator, I think he's doing okay. He makes some insightful observations now and then.. overall, I like all the TNT commentators.. Steve Kerr being my favorite.. at least they're better than espn's crew.
I don't find anything particularly wrong with what Miller had to say... don't gotta blow it out of proportion. 1. There will never be another Jordan 2. Tmac = Drexler is very high praise 3. Smits was Reggie's teammate for a very long time and he obviously has very high regards for him.
Not to knock on McGrady because I love his game, but Drexler got the Trailblazers to the finals with no help, and put up a good fight against the Bulls. I know we all hate to read this anytime someone doesn't give McGrady the credit he deserves, but McGrady hasn't even gotten a team past the first round of the playoffs. Not all fault rests entirely on McGrady mind you, but to say McGrady is better than Drexler right now is a little premature.
