I have to agree that Sheed had a lot more potential than what he developed into realized talent. I also agree that his lack of greatness can be attributed to his lack of drive. He's an underrated defender who can score in a multitude of ways but he never really took it to the other team in the way he could have. I don't believe he had more talent than Kobe... then again we are comparing a SG to a PF. They would impact the game a bit differently. Or not with how Sheed likes to shoot the jumper.

Odom had more talent than Kobe?

I think some of you are underestimating the talent Kobe had or just overrating the talent of guys who underachieved.

I don't know about comparing him to Kobe because of their positions but I've always thought he could have been better than Duncan.

No I'm not in either sense. Odom is a extrmemly talented player who never wanted to be great. He has a good work ethic, but not a great one. Odom should have been a redefining player with his size and skill level. The guy is 6'10 235 and handles the ball like a pg,runs like a sf, and rebounds like a pf. There haven't been many guys who had those qualities ever in the nba. The sad thing is the few that have had those qualities never used them to the top shelf. Kobe uses all his talent all the time and thats what makes him special. His pursuit of history and greatness.

This sounds like a dumb argument to begin with.
And what the hell does he mean by talent? Susan Boyle has talent.

What's next? Godzilla vs King Kong? how is King Kong going to take Godzilla's fire breath? Is his fur impervious to fire?

if your comparing them based on what picks they were in their respective drafts then... yeah maybe, rasheed is old school and he got drafted back when all the great big men where playing or had just retired around 1995.

    This.

Sheed is versatile (imo, more versatile than Dirk was / ever will be), but his drive wasn't there.

Sheed can shoot from anywhere, but if he worked as hard as Kobe, top 5 PF of all time is a guarantee.

I'd put Wallace somewhere between Kevin Garnett and Chris Webber with what he could have been. Which is much better than what he is.

Joe Smith and Antonio McDyess (and Jerry Stackhouse) were picked ahead of Wallace, then Kevin Garnett right after him. So maybe Wallace and Garnett shoulda flip/flopped careers.

The draft order should have been the reversal starting with Garnett.

GOSH this song is annoys the hell out of me.

"but according too HAAAIII-IIIIM!!" oh poor you

ok, how do you prove odom is more talented than kobe? Talent is very hard to measure and I really doubt there is any valid argument that proves odom is more talented than kobe.

I would personally agree that Rasheed had way more natural talent than Kobe, it is just that Kobe refined and utilized his talent a lot better and more through hard work and self-improvement. Though Sheed camps out at the 3pt line most of the time, he has a pretty amazing post game and it is near impossible to block him at the height of his release. He is also incredibly smart, a fact that his teammates for every team have mentioned. He is a long, mart, and athletic big guy with an outside shot. If that isn't raw, natural talent, I don't know what is. His downside was he just didn't really care and never wanted to be the man. A car analogy is that he had more horsepower than Kobe, but Kobe built himself up better and had the torque to fully utilize his talents and Sheed barely has any torque, this wasting a lot of his horsepower.
