I think you completely misunderstand. I think we're going to be terrible this season. That doesn't mean they aren't doing it right. Tanking was exactly what the Rockets needed to do and they're doing it. So, I'm not b****ing. I haven't demanded Morey be fired even once since he blew up the team. Also, it's not like this every season, though. The two seasons before the 2011-2012 season, I thought we had a playoff team and then we underperformed and missed the playoffs. Only last season did they outperform my expectations, and even then they didn't make the playoffs. So, here's my compliment: good job, Morey, blowing last season's team to hell. We should be top-5 in the lotto this year. I also agree Asik and Jones look good and should help with the rebuild in future seasons.
Didn't you accuse Tinman in the other thread for always running away from arguments? Well, instead of trying failing miserably to be smart, address the questions. Like for example, why do you think last year's draft was 75-80 players deep? Which ass did you pull those numbers out of?
It seems like the last option that you mentioned is the only way to go now with the way things have gone and the way this team turned out to be. You have actually been a very good and interesting with your posts, generally, so I am surprised at all the vitriol thrown at you.
I with you here, but I'll add this; I look a little further North when I complain. I think that Les is a good owner. Even a great owner, but I think he got addicted to two things that have hurt this team. The first thing is rebuilding a team to make another push. He did this with Drexler and it worked, then it failed with Barkley, with Pippen, Stevie years, Yao years. It's like he's not trying to build the franchise, he's just putting on a temporary bandaid that ends up making a push, but that push hasn't been enough. The second thing he got addicted to was thinking that if the team made the playoffs, they had a legit chance at winning it all. That second championship won from the 6th seed seemed to flip some switch in Les' brain that was telling him he could capture lightning again. There was one year we had with Yao and Tracy where we looked legit. Then we lost by something like 40 in game 7. I think Les needs to build. This takes wise drafting, great treatment of the players so that they become loyal to the franchise, getting that coach that will be there for a decade and demanding greatness. Everything starts with Les. I think he made a name for himself with Hakeem, both good and bad. He needs to shed that, build his vision, his core of the franchise and believe in it. That being said, I respect his desire to be competitive. I know he wants another championship. He and Jerry Jones have the same issues building the franchise. Anyway, enough old school discussion. This thread and this site are really about coachbadlee.
Just wanted add this to my previous post, Les needs to build with the 1st or 2nd seed as his goal. There are cities that don't have near as many resources as Houston, yet they put together solid dynasties.
I have nothing positive to say. All I have is hope that things are better than they currently appear. Even the OP's positive is based on hope, not reality. If Asik is tearing it up 25 games into the season, that would be a positive. Right now we have no one, not players, coach, gm, or owner, who have PROVEN that they are elements of a contending team. We have hope, but to me, hope is a weak, tenuous thing that I've seen disappear many times before.
Another positive i have noticed about this team, they are actually looking better in the 2nd half. I know its only preseason, but the past few seasons they would look terrible in the second half of games.
Grasping at Straws 1. trying to find some way to succeed when nothing you choose is likely to work. 2. trying to find reasons to feel hopeful about a bad situation.
Got some more positivity for ya. Where we dominate, the Heat falter. http://scores.espn.go.com/nba/boxscore?gameId=400400572 With all starters playing heavy minutes.
The only thing I wish to complain about is the tankers, if you don't mind. How about this... Kmart makes the all star team. Linsanity part 2 Asik averages 10/15 and is an all-star consideration as well first team defense Parsons finds his stroke from downtown and averages 16 ppg Jones leads team in blocks, averages 15 pts/game and is a candidate for ROY Delfino hits 45% of his 3's and averages double figures in points Livingston finally lives up to his #4 pick in draft potenial, has breakout year DMo and the other rookies keep improving, and contribute
